To be edited by J. BaWcache. he high importance of dissemina JL ting correct information among the great body of the Amerieampeople at-the present alarming crisis in out national affairs, being universally ad tniud, it is deemed unnecessary to assign at length ttte reasons which seem to require the publication of a semi weekly newspaper at the seat of gov ernment of-this great Stale; at least until the coming struggle for the next Presidency shall have been brought to a close. Suffice it to observe, that a weekly. journal, howevw capacious, must necessarily be too-contracted, as well as too taidy in its operations, to met the exigencies of -.he times Two regular lumbers per week, -Iris belie ved, will in a great measure, supply the acknowledged deficiency. In or der, therefore,-to insure a large circu lation to the proposed puulkwiion.and place it within the reach of every one the price of subscription has been brought down to the lowest possible rate. As the political opinions of the Ed itor are not unknown in Ohio, it is deemed unnecessary to give any other pledge of the course hevintends to pur sue, than to observe that, being fully persuaded the election of Martin Van Buren to the next Presidency must prove highly lietrimental to the pub lic interest, as well as 'imminently dangerous in the liberties of the ciii zen, he will z;alously labor'lo preverit so deplorable a result, by affording an active, and so far as may depend upon him, an efficient aopport to THK CANDIDATE OF Tfifi PEOPLE. From Maine to Georgia, the freemen of ihe United States are-rushing to the rescue oi ine eountry with a spirit worthy of ihe days of '76. Noihing more is therefore necessary to secure to them an easy and complete triumph over the oilier-holders, than a perfect organisation. To effect ihis, on hon orable and lasting principles, shall be a leading obj'ct of the Journal; and while most cordially responding to the recent enthusiastic demonstrations of public sentiment in favor (if our distinguished fellow-citizan, WM.
