The people along the line of the proposed Dela ware, Berkshire and Bnnbory Turnpike, west of Alum Creek, are not taking Its stock with the same alacrity displayed by the enterprising people east of the Creek. Nearly twenty thousand dollars have been subscribed by the citizens of Sunbury and Berkshire and those residing along the line east of Alum Creek, and In order to make the road a success it is necessary that those residing west of that stream and the citi zens of Delaware should take at least a like amount- Bo far but 813,000 have been taken at this end of the route, and if our people want this most Important road they at once tome forward and make np the re- maining5,000 asked of them. Indigestion always produces weakness of the bodily powers. Sometimes it happens that the appetite demands more food than the stomach can digest ; though not more, perhaps, than Is reti Hired to keep up the full strength of the frame. The ob ject under such circumstances is to Increase the digestive capacity of the assimilating organ, so as to make it equal to the duty im posed upon il by the appetite, and capable of supplying the building material of the sys tern as fast as it is required, This object is fully accomplished by the use of the Bitters. They tone and gently stimulate the cellular membrane which secretes the gastrin juice, and the result Is that the solvent Is mingled with the food in suilicient quantity to con vert all its nourishing partieies into pure wholesome element. If, on tiie other hand, there is a -deficiency of appetite, without any corresponding deficiency of digestive power, the effect of the tonic is to stimulate a desire lor food.
