Otis, director of Personnel Research Institute Western Reserve University, is to 1 be the guest speaker at the first monthly meeting of Shaw High School PTA in the school auditor ium at 8:00 p. m. on Tuesday, No vember 22, according to an an nouncement by Mr. and Mrs. Ray i mond E. Sprenkle, ‘2149 Reyburn rd., program committee chairmen. to' A short musical program by mem bcrs of the Shaw orchestra will preceed the talk. This is an open meeting for Shaw students as well as parents, who will hear Dr. Otis discuss the subject “After Shaw—What?” The Personnel Research Insti tute which Dr. Otis has headed since its founding in 1941 has be come one of the outstanding cent ers in the nation for research into human relationships in business, psychological testing of business applicants and employees, and vo cational and educational planning for individuals. In addition to his duties as director of this work, Dr. Otis is professor of psychology at W.R.U.’s graduate school and at Cleveland College, and acting director of the Western Reserve University Improvement Service. Holder of A.B.M.A., and Ph. D. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania where he was a mem ber of the department of psycho logy, Dr. Otis, before coming to Cleveland in 1938, was with the U. S. Department of Labor. He is co-author of the book “Job Eva luation—A Basis for Sound Wage Administration”, frequent contri butor of articles to professional publications, and a member of the American Association for the Ad vancement of Science, National Vo cational Guidance Association, Sig ma Xi and other similar groups. Following the successful Open House at Shaw High School last month, staged co-operatively by the school and the PTA, and w’ith PTA membership showing a sharp increase over last year, a good turn-out is expected to hear Dr. Otis.
