Despite our best efforts, some calls will be delayed and some may not be completed at all. We will hanaie as many calls as pos sible as promptly as we can. But, if you w ant to be sure of your calls, it would be wise to place them before the sh or on Monday, when your friends will be at home observing the holiday. This is the crowd that takes over the pasonage Sun day evening for conversation and discussion with Dr. and Mrs. Howard M. Wells as the genial hosts. Tonight the crowd will go caroling and tomorrow night a fish fry and ice skating party i listed at Strawberry Lane. But the weatherman certainly isn’t co operating as far as the skating ib concerned. A progressive dinner is -•'paration for next Wednesday night Carolers aplenty will set forth tonight, another group of singen being the Luther Leaguers of Calvary Lutheran Church. Some thirty-five members of the Junior and Senior high crowd at the East Cleveland Baptist church are going to approach each course of their New Year’s Night dinner with more than ordinary zest. Its a progressive meal and the jaunts between the homes of the hostess will add to the merrimen’ as well as whet the appetites of the diners. But hostesses are get ting ready since reservations arc .requested. These must be made with either Roger Sauer or Janet Sprinkle by the 30th. The guests will meet in the home of Miss Maurine Price, East 141st st. for the first course and then proceed to the home of Ralph Green on Rosemont rd. for the salad. The main meal will be served in the home of Joan Carrol Bode on Allendale st. after which the group will proceed to the par sonage where Mrs. Slaughter will serve the dessert. A “family evening” to be held Friday, the 23rd, in East Cleve land Congregational Church begins with a pot-luck supper at 5:30. It is rumored that Santa will make a very special pre-Christmas visit to the children at the party, which .starts early so that little sleepy folk can be home and in bed at an early hour. The Couples Club of East Cleve land Congregational church held their Christmas party with a vari ety of entertainment. Luna Simms gave two humorous recitations Tom Dunstan led the singing and Al Dill gave a take-off on “Luige” which went over in good fashion. Christmas gifts were exchanged and refreshments were served in the recreation room which had been decorated in a manner to cause many expressions of pleas ure. A talk by Bill Sales, presi dent concluded the evening. The biblical story was presented by Jean McCutcheon, Judith Mears, Inez Eickholtz and Suzanne Gent, with Mr. Charles P. Pike and Don ald Sherman in control of light ing effects. Following the 7 p. m. program a Christmas party was given in the church parlor, for the children and their parents. A short church film “Forbid Them Not” was shown to explain the regular pro gram of teaching with motion pic tures. Wins $20,000 Damage Claim A jury verdict of $20,000 has been granted Joseph P. Denish, 836 Telnisdale rd., who sued the Cleveland Transit Co. for $40,000.
