annual Epiphany Service of Lights
Monday evening, January 9th at
8 o’clock. Coming from Washing
ton, D. C. to give the sermon at
St. John’s Episcopal church. St.
John’s is known as “the church of
the Presidents” in the capital since

its services.

Amid a setting of Christmas
greens and white tapers in the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Knight
at Turkeyfoot Island near Akron
at high noon on the day before
Christmas, Miss Marion Jackson
and Ensign Milford Spalding
Terrass, U.S.N. pledged their
troth. Officiating at the nuptial
ceremony was Rev. A. I. Spanton,
deam emeritus of Akron Uni
versity.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. Theron Skeels Jackson and
the late Dr. Jackson. After
graduating from Hathaway Browm
School and Stanford University
and the Ryan School of Aeri
nautics, she attended Columbia
University. Her husband is the son
of Mr. and Mrs/ John Terrass of
Los Angeles. He attended Ruther
ford Preparatory School and is a
graduate of the U. S. Naval
Academy.
The bride, given in marriage by
her uncle, Mr. Sprague Tomlinson
of Campbell, Mo., wore a white
satin. gown. From the deep V
neckline, tiny buttons trimmed the
long fitted bodice and the full
skirt fell into a brief train. She
Wore the groom’s gift, a strand of
pearls, and carried white orchids.
Carrying out the Christmas
color scheme, the attendants, Mrs.
Richard Wetsel as matron of hour,
Miss Anna Pettys as maid of
honor and Miss Betty Terrass as
bridesmaid, wore velveteen gowns
in a deep American Beauty red.
They also wore pearls and carried
white carnations caught with
frosted ribbons matching their
gowns.
Mr. Terrass was his son’s best
/nan. Ushering were Mr. Hal
Knight and Richard W. Wetzel.
A reception followed in the
home of Miss Mary Crawford,
2715 Fairmount blvd., Cleveland
Heights with whom Mrs. Jackson
is making her home. Christmas'
greens with roses and poinsettias
in white, decorated the home.
The couple left for the Poconos
and will spend New Year’s Eve in
New York City before going to
Philadelphia where the groom is
assigned to the submarine Tusk
in the U. S. Navy Yard. In the
Spring they will transfer to New
London, Conn.
Shaeffer-Gilbert
In a beautiful and simple wed
ding on Monday, December 26th,
Miss Ruth Gertrude Gilbert and
Robert Edwin Shaeffer pledged
their troth in a ceremony per
formed by Rev. Edward G. Prassc
in the chapel of Covenant Presby
terian church. The ceremony at
four o’clock was witnessed by a
small company of relatives and
friends.

Miss Gilbert was given in marriage
by her uncle, Captain John Charles
Irwin of Fort Knox, Ky.
For her wedding the bride chose
an afternoon length frock with
long sleeves in silver and shell
pink lame with a small matching
hat and a fluff of shell pink veil
ing. A single orchid adorned her
shoulder. Mrs. Boyce was gowned
in an acqua beaded crepe dress
with a V neckline and bracelet
length sleeves and her corsage was
of camellias.
The Christmas note prevailed at
the reception held in the home of
Mrs. Gilbert. The usual family

Christmas tree was especially
beautiful while Christmas greens,
white candles and wedding bells
added their loveliness. The buffet
table was centered with a tiered
wedding cake encircled with holly
and white pompoms and flanked
with silver candlesticks with white
candles.
The bride Is a graduate of the
College of Wooster and received
her Ph.D. degree at Massachusetts
Institute of Technology and wears
a Phi Beta Kappa pin.
Mr. Shaeffer is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. George D. Shaeffer of
Dearborn, Mich, and is a student
in the graduate school, North
western University. He is a gradu
ate of the University of Michigan
and a member of Sigma Nu.
