If so, come down to the East Cleveland Rifle and Revolver Club, Inc., tomorrow (Friday), January 20th, between 7 and 11 p. m., and try your luck and skill at winning a chicken. The Range is located at Eddy rd. and Hayden ave. This isn’t going to depend entirely on how good a shot you are. If you can hold a gun and pull the trigger you stand an excellent chance of going home with a gift. You don’t even have to own a gun. Arrangements will be made to Ioan a rifle if you don’t have one. Any calibre hand gun or .22 calibre rifle can be used in com petition. Sorry, no scope sights will be permitted. Trick targets, such as the Elephant and Fitzluck will be used. COMPANY Classes For Around Home Improvement With spring just around the pro verbial corner, it is appropriate for Greater Clevelanders to think about improvements they can make in their gardens and around their homes. Courses for adults in gar den making, suburban farming, landscaping the home grounds, household mechanics, home plan ning and construction, and flower arranging begin the week of Jan uary 30 at four school-garden cen ters of the Cleveland Public Schools.. 1 For certain courses, east side residents have a choice of Harvey Rice Garden, 2816 East 116th st., and Memorial School Garden, 410 East 152nd st. Courses, taught by qualified per sonnel, feature practical, down-to earth instruction. The only pre requisite is interest, and the fees are nominal. Classes meet once a week for 10 weeks. Telephone the Garden Division at the Cleveland Board of Education, CHerry 3660, for a folder giving complete in formation. Garden Making ia a course planned for those who desire all around instruction in flowers, veg etables, lawns, soils, pest control, and home-grounds maintenance. Landscaping will emphasize the planning, use, and maintenance of plant materials about the home. This is a course aimed especially at owners of new and unplanted homes. Household Mechanics will aid the home-maker in doing the small home-maintenance jobs that are forever calling for attention. Furni ture repairs and refinishing, gen eral household repairs to plumbing and electrical fixtures, and home heating problems will be discussed. Home Planning and Construction is a course planned for those who hope to build a new home or re model an existing one. Flower Ar ranging courses appeal to folks who desire to learn about arrang ing garden flowers and other seas onal material for home decoration. Lecture, discussion, demonstra tion, and actual practice when pos sible, are the methods used. Over GOO people were enrolled in similar courses offered by the Cleveland Board of Education last year. Rhodes, 1676 East 133rd st. Mrss Margaret O’Boyle, 13608 Emily ave., Miss Katherine Mur phy, 13419 Milan ave., and Charles Cogan, 1726 Lake Front ave., are serving on the committee planning an Irish-American Dance Satur day, January 21st. The dance will be held in St. Patrick’s Hall, 3608 Ridge ave., and proceeds will go to the Sisters Incarnate Word Building Fund. Refreshments will be served. On Thursday evening, January 20th at 8, the parents of the Hard of Hearing children at Superior School are having a dessert card party at the school. Purpose of the party is two-fold. It will af ford a pleasant social evening for card players and at the same time boost the group’s fund for special equipment for the Hard of Hear ing classes not otherwise provid ed. Among this equipment is that being used to prepare warm lunch es for the children, since Superior doesn’t have a cafeteria. The Board of Education advanced the funds in order to start the program dur ing the fall, and the party is hoped to be one means of reducing this loan.
