Mrs. Leah Kennedy Marshall
Friends here have received word
of the death in Medina, Ohio, of
Mrs. Ti*ah Kennedy Marshall, a
former resident of Savannah ave.,
this city. Her death occurred Mon
day, December 21st, in the Medina
Convalescent Home. Services and
burial were also held in Medina.
While here Mrs. Marshall was
identified with the Hard of Hear
ing, having taken up lip reading
when her own hearing became im
paired. She had private classes.
She was a member of Windermere
Methodist Church.
She was the widow of Frank
Marshall, and is survived by her
sisters, Mrs. Walter Clark of Me
dina and Mrs. E. P. Anderson of
Seattle, Wash. and brothers, Ver
non of Medina and Rufus of Co
lumbus.
Mrs. Gertrude Glass
Mrs. Gertrude Glass, widow of
Dr. George F. Glass, physician and
surgeon with offices at Euclid and
Elsinore aves. for more than 40
years, died December 28th at the
home of her son, Lionell E. Glass,
20821 Edgecliff dr., Euclid. Inter
ment was at Lake View Cemetery.
Mrs. Glass was descendent of
two early East Cleveland families,
Stegkemper and Jones. She was a
member of East Cleveland Moth
ers Club and Windermere Presby
terian Church. She was a graduate
of old Central High and the form
er Cleveland Normal School, and
prior to her marriage, taught
school.
She also leaves a sister, Mrs.
Elsie Witherell and a brother, Fred
Stegkemper.
Roger L. Frost
Rev. Earle C. Hochwald, minis
ter of East Cleveland Congrega
tional Church, conducted the serv
ices for Roger L. Frost, 48, who
died December 29th at his home,
1152 Hazelton rd., Cleveland. He
was long a member of this-church
and served it in cany capacities,
including that of treasurer. Burial
was at Lake View Cemetery.
He was born here, graduated
from Shaw High School and Ober
lin College and resided here until
three years ago.
Mr. Frost was the son of the
late James R. and May Dibble
Frost. On his mother’s side he was
a descendent of Capt. Lewis Dib
ble, an early Cleveland settler af
ter whom Dibble ave. in North
east Cleveland was named. His
father was associated with John
D. Rockefeller in the early Stand
ard Oil days.
Mr. Frost is survived by his wife,
Mildred Rock Frost, to whom he
was married for 23 years.
Edward Singerman
Edward (Whitey) Singerman,
55, father of Allan Singerman, a
Shaw 1953 graduate, died suddenl/
December 28th while riding home
from his office in Cleveland City
Hall with his brother, Sam J. Sing
erman. He was an accountant in
the Cleveland safety department.
Earlier in life Mr. Singerman
played amateur basketball and
semi-pro football. He had coached
basketball teams sponsored by
Union Trust Co., Halle Bros, and
other firms.
In addition to his son, Allan,
Mr. Singerman is survived by his
wife Anne. The family home is at
1267 East 125th st. Allan is a
freshman at Wharton School of
Finance, University of Pennsyl
vania, on a scholarship. His father
had attended the University’s ban
quet at the Mid Day Club that
same afternoon.
William L. Edwards
A machinist and toolmaker for
50 years, William L. Edwards, 75,
died December 30th at his home,
13145 Euclid ave., where his son,
Howard W., operates the Edwards
Funeral Home.
Services were held there in
charge of his pastor, the Rev. J. P.
Cordero, of East Glenville Metho
dist Church, where he had long
been a member. Burial was at Lake
View Cemetery.
Born in Buffalo, N. Y., Mr. Ed
wards spent his childhood in San
dusky, coming to Cleveland at the
age of 17 years, learning the ma
chinist and toolmaker craft. At his
retirement three years ago he was
employed by the E. W. Bliss Co.,
prior to which he had worked for
General Electric Co., the Foote
Burt Co. and the old Chandler
Motor Car Co.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Tulia Martin Edwards his son,
Howard, who is secretary-treasur
er of the Cuyahoga Funeral Di
rectors Association and third vice
president of the Ohio Funeral
Directors Association two daugh
ters, Mrs. Irene V. DiCillo and
Miss Alice Jane Edwards, and a
sister, Mrs. May Doyle of Haw
thorne, Cal.
Oscar C. Miller
Services for Oscar C. Miller,
vice president and secretary of the
Sanitary Tinning Co., were held
from St. Philomena’s Church. In
terment was at Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Miller died at his home,
14519 Terrace rd. on January 2nd,
his 75th birthday. He was born in
Switzerland and was brought to
America by his parents when an
infant.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs.
Rose Mueller Miller, a son, Clem
ent A. and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Anna Wiek
Services for Mrs. Anna Haber
acker Wick, 79, widow of John J.
Wiek, former grocer of East 21st
st And St. Clair ave., were held
January 2nd. Interment was in
Alger cemetery.
In the early 1920s they moved
to Concord Township, Lake County
where they operated a peach or
chard. Following his death in 1940
Mrs. Wick came to East Cleveland,
residing at 1707 Lakefront ave.
She was a member of First
Evangelical Church. Surviving are
a son, Fred A., an optometrist two
daughters, Mrs. Irene Knapp of
East Cleveland, and Mrs. Doris
Bolt of Cheboygan, Michigan five
grandchildren and one granddaugh
ter.
Girl Scouts
Rozelle School was bursting with
excitement when Brownie Troop
No. 575 had their Christmas party.
The girls worked together prepar
in a decorated table and serving
the refreshments. Songs were sung,
games were played and the party
ended with a gift exchange. The
Leaders, Mrs. Joseph Chillemi and
Mrs. Robert McNeal surprised the
girls with an added gift and the
Brownie in turn surprised them
with a gift.
Saturday, December 19th the
entire troop with the aid of Mrs.
R. McNeal, Mrs. R. Keefer, Mrs.
S. Levine and Mrs. E. Webb went
to Skateland
