HIPS EAST CLEVELAND LEADER Junior High Pupils Are Flocking To YM-YW Sponsored Friday Dances Following an auspices opening November 19th, the YMCA-YWCA sponsored Canteen will hold its next dance the evening of Friday, December 17th and alternate Fri day nights, with the Canteen Com mittee meeting on the alternate Friday after school. Requirements for boys and girls desiring to attend the canteen are (1) they must live in the East Cleveland School District, (2) they must be in the seventh, eighth or ninth grade, (3) they must be a member of either the YMCA or the YWCA. These memberships may be paid on a Canteen Night. An admission fee of 15c is charged. at 12:30 at the East Cleveland Woman’s Club. Refreshments will be in keeping with the season. Tale Tellers Book Club of the Church of the Cross will have a dinner party at the home of Mrs. William Oetjen, 3124 Eastwick rd. Monday, December 6th. This is the Christmas party and, in addi tion to a 25c gift exchange, the members will provide a Christmas remembrance for some worthy or ganization. a New and novel ideas pertaining to “Holiday Entertaining” in the home is being presented to the members of the East Cleveland Woman’s Club today, December 2nd, by guest speaker Florence LaGanke, food editor of the Press, who will be introduced by Mrs. Guy T. A Board of Directors meeting will precede the afternoon session. On Thursday, December 9th, members and friends of the East Cleveland Woman’s Club will gather at the clubhouse for a Christmas benefit Bridge-Canasta party sponsored by Circle Four with Captain Mrs. William Schenk in charge. She will be assisted by Mrs. Phyllis McKee and Mrs. L. E. Pardee, All Circle chairman. Members will bring gifts for Rainbow Hospital and Blossom Hill School for Girls. These boys and girls plan can teen policy, publicity and program, drawing from suggestions given them by canteen members. They then run the canteen activities very much on their own, with the adult supervision of YMCA executive secretary, William V. Cumler, and Mrs. Hazel Klinger and Miss Elaine Bruckheimer of the YWCA staff. In addition, there is usually present a parent team of two couples as chaperones. The Committee extends an open invitation to any parent who wishes to drop in and look around or who would like to volunteer as a chaperone. The Committee has even formed a Welcome Com mittee to make you feel at Home!
