Award System For Y Swim Attendance With Saturday, January 15th, the YMCA Swim Classes will start an attendance award system com parable to the award system in the gym program that has been func tioning for years. Boys who at tend 12 sessions in a row starting Saturday (Monda y, Saturday. Monday, Saturday, etc.) will re ceive two credits. Boys who attend six out of 12 sessions will receive one credit. The first credit period will end February 26th. Boys with one credit will receive a red ribbon, boys with three credits will get a blue ribbon. EAST CLEVELAND LEADER Indian Dance Polio Benefit The excitement of Indian drums and dances will resound in Cham bers School Auditorium, Friday, January 14th tomorrow at 7:30 p. m. when Don Crockett and his Oglewanagi (Ghost Shirt) dancers perform their authentic Indian ritual dances under the auspices of Cub Scout Pack 336. Presented by the Cubs a.s part of their pledge to “give good will” they will donate the entire receipts of the free will offering to the Polio Fund. There will be no ad mission at the door. The Cubs are paying all costs of the perfor mance, so that every cent given by the public attending it may go directly to the March of Mothers effort. Chairman of the East Cleveland March of Dimes for the annual Polio Fund Drive is Judge Stan ton Addams, prominent East Cleve land jurits who, with Mrs. Addams will be special guests of the Cubs for this benegit performance. The Oglewanagi Dancers are famous for the accuracy of their dances, both in style and in cos tume. Their dances have been taken directly from the Indians and are performed as the Indians per formed them in their many cere monies. The name of the I roup conies from an old religious society of the Plains Indians, the Ghost Dance Society. This religion swept the plains in the late 1800's, and was adopted by many tribes in those latter days of the glory of their nations. Reinfc part of the life of the American Indian, the dances are part of native American culture, and, as stich, hold interest for all Americans. Chairman of the program is S. G. Osterhuf. Two Movies At Library Next Week There will be two nights of movies at the East Cleveland Library next week. In addition to the usual Wednesday evening pic ture-program. Mr. Clarence C. Rose, of Mt. Vernon Boulevard, will show some unusual color photographs in the East Cleveland Library on Thurs day, January 27th, at 8 p. m. Mr. Rose has traveled in the des ert and rock arch country of Arizona and Utah, which is not easily accessible to the ordinary tourist. The scenery in these places may fairly be called stupen dous, and the slides will be well worth seeing. He calls his talk “Off the Highways in the South west.” The movies to be shown at the East Cleveland Library on Wed nesday evening, January 19th, at 8 p. m. are: “Navajo Sandpainters’, which depicts the Navajo native healing ritual of sand painting, fol lowing the preparation for the painting, its execution, healing ceremony, and destruction of the painting. “The River People” presents the legends, history and everyday life of the Pimas, Indians of southern Arizona and Mexico. “Glacier National Park” is a short travelogue showing campers on the trail, trout streams, wild life and scenic shots of the moun tains. \ULS AND DEANS ON TOP IN SR. “B" Dean's Dairy edged Diamond's Men’s Shop 52-48 for their second straight victory in as many weeks.
