They are announcing their usual Spring Learn to Swim classes. Miss Marilyn Thorman, YWCA Health Education Di-! rector will teach the Y Girls, and Bill Wells, YMCA Program Di rector will teach the boys. Both instructors are YMCA Certified Aquatic instructors. Classes start Saturday, April 25th and continue each Saturday through May 23rd. There will be 11:30, 12:00, 12:30 and 1:00 ses sions for a fee of only one dollar. This fee will later be applicable on a registration for YMCA or YWCA membership if parents wish their child to continue in regular “Y” Learn- to Swim classes in the fall. Registration -’loses April 23rd. Boys and girls found to be swimmers (able to swim 60 ft. or more) will be rejected and their fee returned. Parent signature Grade School Softball Opens Monday, 27th “Play Ball” will be the cry on Monday, April 27th as the East Cleveland YMCA sponsored Grade School Softball league gets into action. The league is divided into an Eastern and Western Division with the winners in each playing for the championship on May 25th. A., rotating trophy awaits the winning teams and final standings are determined on a percentage basis. The YMCA bus transports the visiting team to games and back to their home school after each game, which start between 3:45 and 4:00 p. m. with 4:05 p. m. being forfeit time. Games called off due to rain will be played on a Thursday or Friday. In the following schedule the game will be played on the home field of the school first named. Originated by the North East Garden Club the program has blossomed through the enthusi astic and loving support of many other garden clubs whose members know the serenity that comes from working in a garden. In addition to adding even more beauty to the ten acre wooded site of the hospital, these particular gardens have a far more significant purpose. They are lending a lasting in tangible factor in the care, re habilitation and readjustment of the unwed mothers who find a haven in the dual services at Booth. Here, in sought-for pri vacy and safety, these expect ant mothers are learning gar den skills and attending classes in flower arranging and cor sage making. “Nothing,” says Mrs. Ed mund Smircina, project chair man, “is as relaxing as garden ing. This is being proved here time and again.” At a meeting of representa tives of the clubs now enrolled in this garden therapy program held Tuesday at the hospital, plans for the Spring and sum mer were made.
