Lumber Life The Natural Exterior Finish You've Been Waiting For Lumber Life products enable a homeowner or contractor to tackle every phase of exterior finishing with confidence that the resulta will be what he expected. Lumber Life is suit able for all frame construction —siding, doors, window frames, etc.—and for all types of wood, including cypress, pine, cedar, mahogany and redwood. PATIO FURNITURE FINISH IN REDWOOD or CLEAR is ideal for use on all kinds of wooden garden furniture, out side doors, etc. It is a complete finish in itself, no other finish is needed to complete the job. It will allow the full beauty of the wood grain to show through. It will not soften up under body heat. RED-WOOD PRESERVATIVE is a resin-free, pigmented, per manent stain that can be used either by itself as a combined prime or finish coat, depend ing On the intensity of the color desired, or as a recoat over old finishes where restor ation of bleached and weath ered surfaces is desired. The pigment used in RED WOOD PRESERVATIVE is de signed to shield out ultra violet rays. This protective shield greatly retards the bleaching, fading and weathering of ex terior natural wood. It seals pores against moisture, con trols warping, splintering, and resists fungi and mildew. Its use is not limited to red wood but extends to any wood where a good, permanent red wdod stain is desired. Dry dust-free in 2 to 4 hours, can be recoated in 16 hours. Resist fungi, mildew, sun and rain. II On sale at Berger’s two stores, 1805 East 185th St., IV. 1-6250 land 6919 Superior Ave., HE. 111-3659. Free parking in the rear. We deliver.—(Advt.) If it’s not in tip-top condi tion, you’re flirting with dan ger, according to the National Safety Council. A lot of ears on the”road to day need repairs to be safe for driving, it cautions. In support of its claim, the Council offered thia informa tion: Seven states and the District of Columbia reported in the Council’s annual inventory of traffic safety activities that al most 45 per cent of all vehicles inspected were rejected for mechanical defects. Further, of the more titan eight million vehicles inspected in 10 states and the District of Columbia, 1,722,400—1 out of 5—had substandard brakes. Nearly as many cars—1,649, 500—had defective rear lights. Substandard headlights were the third most frequent viola tion noted. Exhaust and fuel systems were faulty in about 1 out of 7 oars inspected. Hero’s the Council’s nine point safety check list on car maintenance: 1. Brakes cheek them often to make sure they hold evenly on all wheels, that the pedal has the right travel, and that brake fluid is at a proper level. 2. Headlights make sure they’re aimed right and that both upper and lower beams work. Keep lenses clean. 3. Rear lights—they should bf burning, of course, and di rectional signals and stop lights should work. 4. Tires—keep'them prop erly and evenly inflated. Check often for cuts, breaks and excessive wear. 5. Steering check the steering mechsnism occasion ally to see that all parts are in good condition and that wheel alignment is correct. 6. Exhause system—muff ler and tail pipe should be free of cracks, leaks, rusted or worn spots. 7. Windshield and windows —wiper blades should wipe clean, not just streak. Glass should be kept clean. 8. Horn—be M’re it work when needed. 9. Seat belts—install use belts that meet the stand ards of the Society of Auto motive Engineers. Landlord Finds Court Will Fine The city father* will not toler ate any disregarding of the zon ing ordinances. Ralph Millard, 1614 Lakefront ave., found out the hard way. He was fined $100 recently for having six roomers and no license for same. In order to have roomers in East Cleveland, you must get the ap proval of the zoning board. If any one of you have overlooked this, take heed. and Perhaps most important, give your driving attitude a check. “The driver can be a car’s weakest part,” the Council points out. “Keep a close check on your driving attitudes.” Mrs. Carl Costello, 939 Waldo ave.,—Girl.
