“Toys For Tots”
Drive To Start
The “Toys for Tots” cam
paign of the Cleveland Marine
Corps Reservists, the Volun
teers of America, the Kiwanis
Clubs of Greater Cleveland and
the Shell Oil Company will be
gin Friday, Nov. 25th ahd con
tinue through Dec. 14th.
Purpose of the annual cam
paign, the 9th conducted by
Marine Reservists here, is to
make sure Christmas gifts of
toys will be provided all less
fortunate children in the Cleve
land area.
Carl E. Stahley, honorary
chairman, said donations of
new toys or toys in good condi
tion are urgently needed. He
said contributions of toys could
be made by taking the toys to
the nearest Shell Service Sta
tion and drop them in barrels
provided by the stations.
Cal! SU. 1-5541
He pointed out that retail
and wholesale stores wishing
to donate large amounts of
toys could arrange for a store
pick-up by calling the Marine
Corps Reserve Training Center,
SU. 1-5541.
Mr. Stahley urged all school,
church and civic groups to or
ganize toy drives among their
memberships, adding that the
Marines would be glad to pick
up these donations at anytime.
“All toys collected in the
Cleveland area will be distri
buted here” Mr. Stahley said.
“Although Toys for Tots is a
nationwide Christmas Project
of the Marine Corps Reserve,
each campaign is purely a local
project”. He said that the
