Situ ated about midway between the tenth and twentieth degrees of north latl tude, the sun's huat tempered by the cool breezes of the Gulf of Mexico on the one hand and the Pacific ocean on the other, the Mexican tropics pos sess the most delightful of climates. Here flowers Jn rare variety bloom aH Che year round. Sickness of a serious nature is comparatively un known; and one lives from year to year under conditions of ease and comfort not often obtainable In north- j era countries. For these reasons, fruit culture in tropica) Mexico has been1 given a great impetus in recent years by colonists from the United States, I who have settled in large numbers fh its richest section, the Isthmus of Tehuarxtepec. All kinds of tropical fruits are grown, but the cultivation of bananas rere'ves the greatest at tention because of the splendid pro fits the business yields, averaging $250 per acre.
