ture and introduced In both houses,
aroused tho suspicions of tho county
outsido of Iola, and tho approhenslon
did not rest without action. Protests

Interested In Its dofeat went and
camped on tho ground. Tho decision
to amend and thus removo tho chief
objection to tho bill came too lato to
sao tho bill which had been laid on
tho table, with little prospect of being
lesusoitated.

Mr. Nation, husband of Caulo, tho

A now blucksmlth and horseshoeing
shop has just been opened up In Iola.
Mr. Grant Spears is the pioprietor of
tho shop, which Is situated In tho rear
of his residence, Number 414 east
Monroo stieet. While doing all kinds
of blacksmlthlng and wagon and plow
woik, Mr. SpcarHwlll make a specialty
of shooing horses. His experience
covers a period of fourteen years, ho
having bocomo very proficient in bis
tiado. For sovcral 'years ho was
located In Pittsburg, this state, whero
he was known as tho leading horse
shoer of that city.
Mr. Spoars wishes to announce; that
ho will shoo horses for $1.25a head or,

and another section of tho cement
plant lesumed operation. Tor somo

ning, owing to tho newness of the
plant and the slowness of the matket
but conditions hao been steadily im
piovlng, thomaiket Is Improving and
In order to keep the ware loom filled
with cement to fill orders, a second
section will bo required for the timo
being. Tho tlneo sections havo never
been run altogether to their full
capacity, but now that two are again
in operation thero is no leiisou to
doubt that ero long the whole plant
will bo active. This Is good news as
It means employment for a goodly
number of additional men who havo
been out for somo time, aud tho happy
day cannot coino too soon when the
full force will bo on day and night,
