It is again rumored that Eng-
and, Germany and France are
considering the appointment of a
int commission for the consid-
ration of peace in Europe. If
there 13 any one thing under
lit sun that the rest of the world
ardent lr desires, it is that this
rumor may be founded upon fact
and not conceived in the fertile
brain of some lying foreign cor
respondent. The world is satiated
with the unspeakable horrors of
this war. It wants peace, and it
wants it to continue until the
crack of doom.

The spoiling of eggs during
the hot months before they come
to market is due very largely to
the incubation of fertile eggs.
n fertile eggs would be of very
much better quality. Three mer
chants in Kansas made a study
of this on thirty cases of eggs
candled in August. There was a
oss of 36c on every dollar's worth
of eggs handled in this test. The
total of losses due to the incuba
tion of fertile eggs is, therefore,
very great. Infertile eggs can
be secured and should be produced
during the summer by the remov
al of all roosters from the flocks.
The week of May 2227 has been
designated as 'Rooster Week"
or Kansas by Mr. Ross M. Sher
wood, poultry specialist in this
Division, and all farmers are
urged to dispose of their roosters
then or earlier. Many merchants
in this state, particularly ia coun
ties where farm bureaus and
county agents are at work,
have promised to pay a premium
or roosters during that week so
as to make an inducement to far
mers to dispose of them.
The News is only a dollar per
year it's worth it, too.
