M iVia convention was brought about the federation of the secretaries associations of Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma, into one con crete organization to be known as the Tri-State Commercial Secretaries As sociation. Many problems that con front the cities and towns of these states were discussed, among them being the following: "The regulation of Immigration in Karnes." "Hard Surface Roads." "The Promotion of Dairying into Southeastern Kansas." "Equitable Legislation for the Bus iness Interests of Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri." "The Co-operation of the Commercial Organizations in Helping to Win the World War." "What a Credit Association Means to a City." "The Scope of a Modern Chamber of Commerce." "The Need of a Traffic Bureau in a Chamber of Commerce," and various other topics. Owing to thefact that a number oi delegates from Oklahoma were not present at this convention (although their regrets were received) it was decided to call a full meeting of the board of directors to decide where the next convention will be held. This meeting will be held in Tulsa Febru ary 21, 1918, at which time the de cision will be made. Kansas is prac tically sure of this next convention as we have two to one on the direct ory. Pittsburg and Baxter Springs are the rivals for this convention. The secretaries attending the con vention at Hutchinson were royally entertained at a banquet given them by the Chamber of Commerce of Hutchinson.
