If you want NRA continued for two years, on a decent and fair basis, WAKE UP! Big business believes it is running the show, and it is set to give labor "the works." Money is pouring into Washington to KILL NRA. NRA has its faults, but IT HAS ITS TREMENDOUS VALUES. Big business is pushing other issues as on^ method of throwing NRA into the ash can. "Let the Members of Congress Know That Labor Is In Deadly Earnest," A F. of L. Head Says Washington.—The prompt enact ment of the Wagner-Connery labor disputes bill and other labor measures now before congress, is of such para mount importance to working men and women that William Green, president of the American Federation of La bor, urged all Central Labor Unions throughout the United States to or ganize mass meetings and impress upon members of congress that it is their duty to vote in favor of the bills. The letter which the head of the A. F. of L. sent to the city central bodies said, in part: ''Legislation pending in the con gress of the United States in which labor is deeply interested and of great importance to the workers of the na tion in hanging in the balance. First and foremost of major importance to the American Federation of Labor is the Wagner labor disputes bill. "In order that you may appreciate its importance I enclose a copy of the report of the senate committee on education and labor when it recom mended the passage of this measure to the United States senate. "This re-enactment of the national recovery act for a period of two years as recommended by the president, the Black thirty-hour work week bill and the Guffey coal regulations bill are other legislative measures supported by the American Federation of Labor "We here in Washington are fight for the enactment of this legis lation. and are appealing constantly to the members of congress to give these measures their personal and offi cial support. Tell Congress What Labor Wants "W-3 need your help particularly at this time. Labor and its friends throughout the United States must let congress know they are terribly in earnest and they want these measures enacted into law, if we are to succeed in securing the passage of this legis lation. "You must help, and help now, and you must help as you have never help ed before. ''For this reason I am appealing to you' and to the officers and members of all Central Labor Unions to call mass meetings in all the cities through out the nation the earliest possible date. "Secure able speakers for the pur pose of appealing to all in attendance and their friends for support of these legislative measures. 'The hour is here when labor must act together, must speak together and must work together, if we are to se cure the anactment of the Wagner labor disputes bill, the national recov ery act for a period of two years and the other legislation herein referred to." T^' THI Rs ONE DOLLAR PER YEAR TOLEDO AUTOMOBILE WORKERSEND STRIKE Toledo, Ohio (ILNS) Striking workers of the Chevrolet Motor Com pany's Toledo plant voted 732 to 385 to accept terms of tfye management and return to work. Voting followed a stormy meeting at which Francis J. Dillon, Detroit representative of the American Fed eration of Labor, was denied permis ion 1o speak. He favored acceptance if the proposed terms. Dillon left the hall with T. N. Taylor, Detroit American Federation of Labor repre sentative, and later temporarily sus pended the local union from the A. F. of L. Members of the minority who voted against the strike settlement re-es tablished picket lines at the factory. Washington, D. C. (ILNS)—The de cision of Toledo automobile workers to return to their jobs will go far toward relieving the threat of a gen eral automobile strike by A. F. of L. President Green said. The A. F. of L., he said, stands "'squarely behind" Francis J. Dillon, who utged the striking Chevrolet workers to accept the company's com promise terms. CLERICAL WORKERS Union Wins Collective Bar gaining Election Sheffield, Ala. (ILNS)—Following i dispute of many months between he American Federation of Govern .nent Employes, Lodge No. 182, and an Employers' Club of Wheeler Dam, bona fide collective bargaining was definitely established by the TVA Wheeler Dam "white collar" account ing and clerical workers by an elec tion under the supervision of C. C. Killen, diivctor of labor relations for TVA. The A. F. G. E. Lodge No. 182 re quested the election after the Em ployes' Club declared that it was the representative of the clerical forces. Immediately after the election date was set an intensive campaign to build up membership was carried on by both organizations. The results of the election clearly show that the ''white collar" group desired to be represented by a bona fide A. F. of L. organization. The re sults were: Total eligible to vote, 04. A. F. G. E.
