A correspondent says: The new head draaoon in Paris are extremely graceful. They liriug to the recollection the style worn during the Regency and the end of Leo is XIVb reign. The hair is waved in front unite in a novel manner, aud so as to represent small curls. At the top of j the head this waved hair Is. mixed with ringlets arranged tier upon tier, and which j are very long at the back. This head- dress Is 'combed more or leas high, accord- j Inst to the sstyle of the face of the lady who adopta It. LOW-NECKED jkKsiLS, Low bodiceti, made In liretonne, are Vcultdly more popular than any other i style; a white fichu, edged with lace. J is'woni beneath it. A novelty I the way of a low-necked dress has come to as with Otgter fashions of the season. The waist i dccolleU-e in no longer to exhibit a bound less contiguity of shoulder-blade aud throat, but is cut round like the Nor mandy peasant waist, and ia worn with a fluted trill of finest lace, standing. COLLARS. Upright quillings of lace, and of India muslin, fluted, are more popular than anything else in the way of collars, thouiih married ladies wear ottener thd Marie Therese and other imported collars made to follow the outlines of dresses cut heart- h j Pompadour "-x" - MKKKT-DRKs.HLS. Costumes for street wear are In various j designs. Something new is of rich black cashmere. There is a wide row upon the Bottom of the skirt aud the overskirt, the ' latter being- caught BP in a bunch behind. a U pannier. The close sleeves have a j band of that trimming at the hand, and a j small pointed capo of India cashmere, j with a frill of lace at the neck, a la Marie j Smart, completes the suit. BONNETS AND HATH. A new bonnet, particularly becoming to i pretty laces, piquant faces and youthful i... ,-Oia.s made its appearance, called the Infanta," or baby bonnet. The brim is so small as to be ne brim at all; the crown is the feature of the bonnet, from which it i takes its name. Made of pearl-colored satin, with a dark velvet contrasting, it is ; I a tasteful novelt v in the way of sensation- ; al headgear. lu'Paris, round hats are not : : so generally worn as they are here; very few elegantly dresaed ladies wearing them on grand occasions. Bonnets now worn have a coronal of light velvet, from which long feathers fall back over the chignon. , A novelty of the season is a bonnet of crejie. de'ehitte, composed of a dark velvet coronal aud a tuft of feathers. Falling from the crown is a scarf, of crepe, edged with adeepsilk fringe, and crossing upon the chest, is clasped by a small brooch. SASIIHE.s. Sashes seem to be worn as much as ever with dresses of crepe de chine; the sash i is of the Mime material, richly fringed. The bows, or rather loops, are large, and al! the ends arc broad aud short. Sashes to velvet garments are made of velvet and satin, or silk combined. Roman ribbous an particularly handsome, variegated and crimpied fringe, with dresses of tulle; a ; ncarf-4anaJl ot crape, or Algerian gauze i passes over one shoulder, to the opposite side, under the arm. where it is held by a bounuet. Sashes of the most brilliant hues are worn with velvet basques or jackets; the new shade called tajte:e dex I Alj'ei, is very handsome, and various ! shades of pink, or coral color, are worn with house dresses of black silk. Ladies will hnd the French ribbons far superior to the Swiss manufactures. Some beaut i , ful sasbea are of Chantilly thread-lace, iu j the shepherdess pattern, with the design j of the broad-brimmed hat, the rake and ' the flowers so perfectly traced as to be seen ataglam e, though wrought of spider web quality. PETTICOATS. The petticoats for outdoor wear are made in the same manner, but braided; a ran tine black braid upon either a pearl i gray or groseille petticoat is very eflbo ! live. Striped !Uieoats, bordered with ' three flounces cut out in leaf-like scol lops, are also much worn. The center flounce is velvet; the outside ones are of the striped silk. Some new petticoats have appeared during tho winter for wearing indoors, with opera train skirts. Mme. Eiise Introduced them, and BXOOOaV ' inlv novel is ih ir effect, especially the abciile petticoat, uich can be wcrn with vary variety of skirt. It Is made of dark yellow satin, striped horizontally with maroon velvet, aud is worn with a ma roon velvet dress with large Louis XIV refers, ornamented n ith old Bruges gui pure round the throat. This frill descends eu talsit over the waistcoat. In order that the lace may not fall, it Is strength ened or held iu its place by line whale boae beiug lun in the band. BILKS, SATINS ANP CREPE DE CHINE. Among our newest silks, the superior quality of gros grain are somewhat cum bersome, aud have given way lo a poult de oi, quite as elegaut, but softer and moro flowing, in arfcenO are produced all ot those wonderiul shades of eou de nil, topaz, and e iu de Lenta. Shades of co ral, and a peculiar ereeii called tcrf de aftanot, are particularly intended for our brunette beauties. Shades of gray, too, sre almost as popular as those of pink, widen threaten to rival and swallow up the blues which have so long held su oremaov. Saiius still retain the popular ity that'Uiev gained three years ago, and ' I ; ... .l,nnc. I,. llii-.r il.ll,:ltu ST. .I1 W, fTil I the fabrics lately produced to tempt wo- j men ot fashion, crepe de chine surel y j lakes precedence. Nothing so stylish or expensive has MM suggested for a long time. The prevailing taste seems to poiut j io - .tt, 8 iwmg fabrics, rich and noiselMa, instead of the rustling bnn-ades so long uppermost in the realm oi style, and nWMOJs tfe chine is its prophet. It comes in shades ol lavender, blue, green, gray, rose, scar hat. It is a yard and three-quarters in ) width, and not less than ten dollars a : yard, and la used exclusively for tunics Ml over-ilressea, above bodies of silk to j coi resjiond. All shades of crepe de chine j arc delicate, and to wear ii over a high- j colored body would be to insult the Wat low school of fashion, of which pale ; colors in ri.'h fabrics are the exponents. Some Algerian jjauzes, less expensive, though of course less beautiful, come j next in popularity to crepe de chine, and j some extra good iorlard silks known as Celestial Empires, make tasteful bodies or j slips to wear witii them. PC LI. DRESSES. Trained dresses are almost entirely dis carded iu the ball-room, or wherever else dancers most do congregate, and, if worn ,.t s". are arranged lo be carried across ; tne arm at pleasure. Costumes for even- :tik' arc delicately divided Into uigmncu violets, brocades and failles, for the ma trons, and Oananal silks, China crapes, tulles, etc., lor the youthful. Styles are. M they should be, majestic lor the former, aud picturesque for the lateer. In velvets, the regul.it ion dress ol black is departed i Irbm, except as to Ihe marteau du cour, ; which is more art icularly :i dinner cos-1 tume, and ladies are wearing shades of pearl, cream aud azure-white velvet, as i well as shades of peach aud salmoii-i-olor. I Of course nothing but lace is refral ! enough to serve as trimming for velvets! ,i such delicate shades. Paris dresses for i fni; dress receptions Hie in long train, ami maorj of the fashionable silks resemble the old style brocades of the time of Marie Antoinette, An elegant dress of r,,si-colored brocade is made with a long traiu, opening in front over an under skirt, with two flounces of while law wrought in beautiful designs. The cor sage is made to simulate a basque at the back, and rounding in front, is open to the neck, displaying a white satin vest, w itii a frill of lace. A novel style is a white silk with butlerlly-shaped bows of black gros graiD silk tho whole length of the skirt. Over the medium low corsage is worn a fichu, or pointed cape of white lace embroidered w ilh very tine pearls. Wilh this was worn a bertha decorated wi'h pearls. Another very charming dras is of white ailk, with a basque, sash end and bodice; trimmings made ot an entirely new kind of embroidery, which is very effective, namely, sprays and bunches ot beautifully deslgued flowers and leaves, principally composed of pieces of colored silk and satin, puckered up, sc. as to be iu high relief, artistically speaking. We have never seen it closer or hotter at Mm season of the year, and though there was no rain, the clouds were iriven up from the South in vast masses, which promise auy quantity of it before many hours. Some accidents take a queer lime to happen. Just as this warm spell Is upon us there is not a pound of ice for sale iu town.
