Today's session of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange, f while distinctively;
of a prehollday character, was fairly broad. Price changes at the close xverei
fractional and In no case was there a decided tiend In direction. Tho Indis
position of traders wag, of course, Intensified by the holiday tomorrow, and
the festivities attending- the celebration on the floor of the exchange.
Ralls were under pressure at the opening, Pcnnsjhanla and ReadlnB
being the only ones that showed a loss. Erie (rained H and Lehigh Valley
was up '4.
In the strictly home shares Philadelphia wan unchanged, Philadelphia
Hapld Transit trust certificates were off ;, with the Philadelphia Traction
nhatcs unchanged nt 71. Union Traction was off V,,
Tho rest of the market was comparatively steady and for the most part
unchanged to fractionally loner. Warrants of the Corn -Exchango National
Bank sold at 130, unchanged.
Christmas tvas celebrated in true stle on the Philadelphia Stock
Exchange today, rules being suspended at noon and traders devoting their
time to other things than transactions In stocks and bonds.
Luncheon was served In the reading room from noon until 2 o'clock,
members of exchange firms nnd bank and trust company officials being tho
guests. Holiday decorations were very much In evidence In tho board room,
nnd the few orders which were executed wero sung out to tho tuno of some
popular air played by an orchestra. (
Christmas boxes were distributed to employes.
