Two hundred and fifty students of the high school and members of the faculty attended the Boys' club first annual carnival Friday evening in the gymnasium of the school. Unique in the style of high school parties were the numerous booths ar ranged to fill all available spacc in the balcony, locker rooms and main floor and the many freakish characters ex hibited within. The carnival was there in full, from the peanut and popcorn stands to the "For Alen Only" and "For Women Only" shows. A Boys' club quartet comprising 'John Finnegan, Sutton Cobb, Boyd Baldwin and John Finnegan entertained the audience at intervals during the show. The freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes each had a booth where sweets were sold for the benefit of the treasuries. The freshman class also had a picture gallery which was prized as the best exhibition of all. Cartoon drawings of members of the faculty and predominate students of the school were featured on the walls of the en closure. The "fat woman" who died Friday and is reported to have weighed GOO pounds and was eight feet in circum ference had nothing on the fat woman who was exhibited Friday night at the carnival. Although her circumference was not. measured, it is said she broke Coach Crouch's scales. The purpose of the carnival was to give each organisation a chance to raise money to reimburse its treasury. An admission of a number of "franks" was charged for each side show and for candy aud other sweets which were sold by representatives of the many clubs of the high school. One "frank" was worth a penny in American money. Alembers of each club furnished mate rial for its candies and all returns were profits. Probably the most important reason for staging the carnival was to strengthen the Boys' club treasury for the purpose of helping its members to go to higher institutions of learning if they are unable to when that time comes. It is the intention of the Boys' club to foster the higher education move ment in the high school. Several busi ness men of Great Falls are behind the organization in this step and the idea is to see that each boy who cares to has the chance to go away to school after his graduation from the high school. If the boy has not: sufficient funds to carry him through the college or university course, the club will loan him the money until he is able to repay it. This is probably the greatest thing any organization in the high school has ever attempted to accomplish. Richard Hart, president of the senior class, was stage manager and announc er of the show features. During the latter part of the evening a small part of the gymnasium was roped off and the students danced. The Boys' club carnival was given as an experiment to find out if the stu dents of the high school cared for such a party. According to Principal L. G. Cook, this will probably be an annual affair as he had planned if it were a success. Another such carnival will be held December 2 by the athletic association, according to the semester social calen dar framed by the high school student council early in September. Three events remain on the calendar which extends to the beginning of the second period of the school year in January. They are the sophomore class party, December 9; the junior senior party, December 19, and the all school mixer, December 23. Celebrate Third Birthday. Little Edith Ann Rowe. daughter of Mr. and Airs.
