Aleutian Mail Contract Renewed The Post Office Department has notified the Alaska Marine Trans portation Co., of Seward that its contract fo Aleutian Island mail service is being renewed until June, 1963. The contract would bring the company $242,947.20 the same as the present contract. The action was taken despite re quests for negotiated bidding from Rep. Thomas M. Pelly, (R-Wash.) The new Aleutian mailboat is expected to make its first run this month, replacing the Expansion with a faster and more up-to-date service. Better passenger accommo dations is being provided, it is said. Capt. Neils Thompsen is presi dent of the firm and operates the mailboat.
