FLUFFY CANDY Proved popular with the small fry at the car nival held Saturday at the National Guard Armory. The carnival, sponsored by St. Mary’s Church Altar Society, was a great success financially and attendance-wise, according to reports. Christian Center . Name Is Changed The Slavic Gospel Association, Rev. Peter Deyneka, Director, has changed the name of its mission station from Kodiak Christian Cen ter to Kodiak Bible Center. A new type of Sunday morning family worship was inaugurated. Sunday school starts at 10:30 a. m. with each class having experienced teachers and upt-odate material. The pastor, Rev. Woodrow Phillips, is the teacher for the intermediate, young peoples, and adult group. He is currently bringing a series of messages on the Life of St. Paul. On Sunday evenings, a 30-minute film is shown illustrating the morn ing messages. These messages and films will continue until Dec. 17. The public is cordially invited to attend. School Bus Leaves P.O. At 8:40 A. M. School buses for children in the downtown area will leave the Post Office and from in front of Tony’s Bar at 8:40 a. m. every morning beginning Monday. In making the announcement, Ralph Longmire, operator of the bus line stated the bus will leave these areas and proceed via Brook lyn Avenue to the new school. SCHORY HEADS CHURCH OF LATTER DAY SAINTS HERE Hubert S. Schory is serving in this area as Branch President of the Kodiak Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, according to an announce ment from the gorup’s office in Vancouver, B. C. The Church is under the direc tion of President David O. McKay and his counselors; the Council of the Twelve Apostles; Assistants to the Council of the Twelve; Patri arch of the Church; the First Coun sel of the Seventy; and the three members of the Presiding Bish opric. There is a total of 144,198 Ward teachers in the church according to the announcement. Mr. Schory is one of 900,000 members of the Church who presently fill positions of leadership on a non-salaried basis.
