Local Chapter Of ACC To Send Child To Camp Alaska Crippled Children’s As sociation Kodiak Chapter announc es a campership which will make it possible for one local handi capped child to attend Kings Lake Camp. The camp located near Anchorage takes the youngsters for a week during the summer, and stresses recreation for chil dren who would not normally be admitted to a summer camp. Counselors and supervisors are trained, experienced and interest ed persons who have a background in physical therapy. Also offered by ACCA is a $500. scholarship to be awarded to an alaskan specializing in speech and hearing therapy, physical therapy, clinical psychology or special education. The grant will be awarded to a junior, senior, or postgraduate student-. Applications should be received by May 1, 1962, and accompanied by a letter with the student’s rea son for interest in his field of study and a statement of his in tent to work in Alaska at least one year after graduation. Applications may be sent to Alaska Crippled Children’s Asso ciation, Inc., 225 E St., Anchor age, Alaska. The Kodiak Chapter has another supply of its popular Eskimo cook books. Communism Real Threat To U.S. Rotarians Told A taped speech on Communism, delivered by Mark Evans, well known TV and radio commenta tor, was given at the luncheon meeting of the Rotary Club here Tuesday noon in the 49 Room. The speaker’s emphasis was on the theme that the Communists do not need a “hot” war to accomp lish their aims, which he said was the eventual destruction of capi talism. The pattern for this con quest, as predicted by Lenin, is that of overrunning the hordes of Asia, then extending to Europe and America. This is being ac complished, the speaker contend ed.
