Kodiak High Chat Comer (By Svea Breckberg) ROYAL WELCOME The Kodiak Bears received the red carpet treatment when they played the Seward Seahawks at Seward recently, according to re ports. After winning their first game 51-36 they were guests at a Home coming dance. Saturday the Seward boys showed the Kodiak team around town the next day offering rides to the transportationless Bears. From two to four that afternoon, the team saw the exodus of teen agers to the radio station where Seward students turn disc jockeys every week. Our boys were again victorious on Saturday, winning 58-39. Sunday morning found the Ko diak gang snowed in w'ith the re sult that they did not return until Monday afternoon. REPORT CARD TIME Report card day, unfortunately, often a black doomsday for some students whose parents believe in restriction proved to many to be a happy surprise. It is gratifying to learn that such a large percent age of the classes did make the honor roll. The senior class had the best percentage, 30 per cent. HOMECOMING There has been a great deal of talk at school concerning a future Homecoming game and related cel ebrations. This novel idea for Kodiak should receive much enthusiasm both from the somewhat boring routine at KHS but also from the townspeople who should realize that young people do need some thing to occupy spare time. Possible dates have been sug gested—one being the Christmas alumni game—another is for a visiting game of one of our top opponents in either January or February. Many say that Kodiak lacks school spirit. But how many complainers are doing anything about that spirit? JUNIOR BATTLE Boys and girls fo the Junior class clashed in a battle last week over the selection of their class rings. Special meetings were needed before a final decision was made. BIG GIRLS DON’T "Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Shee-e ery,” “Let’s Twist Again”—music and the sliding noise of dancing feet against the cafeteria floor are heard every morning and after noon before and after regular class hours. Grouped about the student store and a table or two the high school students gab about the latest tidbits; listen to the wail ings of the newest hit record, and hurriedly prepare homework as signments. THE GOVERNING BODY The Student Council has sug gested that Kodiak high students set up a code of ethics to establish specific standards which the stu dents themselves will make and SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH Services 10 a.m. Phone 486—2422 For The Best in Heating Oils USE U NION OIL’S N EW I IMPROVED F DEL—WITH L ess Ash More E NERGY tf-1 STOVE OIL ■H-2 BURNER OIL order from KODIAK OIL SALES PHONE — 486-2411 follow.
