Ever see a barkless, odorless Basenji? Well, if you haven’t—it’s a do?, and Henry Harrison of Woody Island has been advertising them in Mirror columns for the past several weeks. This one, whose picture is below, is named “Tally” after Mt. Talkeet na. This breed originated in Egypt about 5,000 years ago, and were be lieved to have become extinct. La ter they were found with a pygmy tribe in Africa and brought to England in 1948 and since that time have become quite popular. As we have said before—they are barkless but do make a sound somewhat similar to a yodel. They are odorless and were used pri marily by the pygmy tribes to run down small game, including ante lope. INTELLIGENT DOGS Harrison says they are very in telligent and easy to train. The fe males have litters from seven to nine per year. They were so highly thought of Six Initiated Six members were initiated into Kodiak Elks Lodge No. 1772 on the night of the visitation of Dis trict Deputy Harold Dunn. They are short-haired and gen erally come with red with white points or black with white points. They are good around children and are very playful. The Woody Island dog fancier says that they don’t eat much and at full growth weigh only 25 pounds. They carry their tails in a double curl over their backs. The dogs sell for $125.
