PAGE EIGHT ARREST WIFE IN SCALDING OF HUSBAND Drenched With Roiling Water, Man Dies Os Injuries NEW YORK, June 9—The mutilated body of Theodore Treftvan, 38, of 24 West 134th atreet, was taken from Har lem hospital Friday after he had died a victim of scalding, alleg edly by hi* wife, Mr*. Catherine, during an argument. The woman who is being held allegedly walked into the room during the heat of the argument and emptied a two gallon pail of boil.ng water over his body a* he lay in bed. When Mrs. Tresvan was arrested she was charged with assault, but after the death of her husband, the cnarge was changed to homicide. Alleged Confession According to police. Mrs. Tresvan admitted pouring the water over her husband. She said her hus band had been very cruel and had argued continuously for two days, letting up only when she left the house. When she returned he had gone out and she did not see him until the next day Then he came ment all over and threatened to strike her. Then, according to the alory. Mrs. Tresvan told her hus band ""You had better not go to" bed or I'll kill you." Ignoring the threat, Tresvan retired shortly thereafter and it was then that h:s w ife entered th room with a pat! of boiling water She poured the entire contents of the pail over his body, it is charged scalding him fatally. He jumped out of bed screaming as the water began run ning over him and collapsed The ment* was rushed to the Harlem h.spital where he died a short time Mrs. Tresvan was arrested bv Detectives Brown. Childs and Ken ny of the 135th street station. Mrs Tresvan is 28. ter. year t younger man her dead husband. She u attractive and apparently well edu cated. The couple were married several years ago, but in recent months are said to have gotten along very poorly.
