SATURDAY, JULY 29, 1939 TOLEDO, OHIO Two Toledoans Are Victims Os Crazed Axe Wielder QUARREL OVER MONEY LEADS TO SLAYING Killer Confesses Slaying Mrs. Hamilton, Striking Mrs. Simpson One woman war slain and •nother seriously injured by blows from an axe alleged to have been wielded by George Stewart, 53, of 650 Avondale, Toledo,, Ohio, last week, according to a recent report Those injured and slain, accord ing to police were Mrs. Eleanoi James, 48, of 25 South Michigan •treet and Mra. James was treated for a lacerated l! >eem« tha' Slew art had ptP Mrs Hamilton $lO for rent and that ahe then sought to evict him, fol lowing which a heated argument end fight ensued, according to the arresting officers, Detectives Fred Tank and Arthur Langendorf. Mrs. James stated Stewart picked up the axe after Mrs Hamilton had threatened him with an ice pick during the heat of the argument. She said that he struck Mrs. Hamil ton. then turned on her. inflicting an injury to her scalp, after which she fled to 121 Nabraska avenue from where she called police. She had been kept a prisoner in a room until seven and next morn ing and made her escape to the Nebraska avenue address when the accused man apparently went out for more liquor, the witness further stated. Arrested early Sunday morning, sitting on a curb smoking a pipe by detectives. George Stewart, police stated, admitted striking the fatal blow which fractured the skull of Mrs. Hamilton, resulting in her Mrs Hamilton, also known as Mrs. Simpson, is survived by one daughter, Hattie Slappery of 727‘-a Palm wood. Boy’s Body In Water 11 Days, Is Recovered CLEVELAND. Ohio. July 28—The mucky, tangled bottom of an aban doned clay pit in Kingsbury Run, which held the body of Elvis Hen derson. 15.
