To Add Six Booms to Overcrowded School The plan of the Board of Educa tion is to add six rooms to the now *cur-room structure. At present more than 240 children are ''ramped Into this inadequate number of rooms and most of them are at tending school only one-naif day because of overcrowded conditions. The district is rapidly gp-wing. adequate school facilities must be provided, these are two man, factors which must be coped with in the present set-up. It is expected that the addition of six rooms will cost approximately 544.000 and will en able many children now on .'ne-half day schedules to attend a full day as well as bring some students now at t lading school out of their districts, back within the district. Requirements For Voting on Issue To vote in the election which will be held March 4. you must be registered at the Board of Education To vote on the tax rate increase you must be 21 years old and a citiien of the United States, registered at the Board of Education. To vote on the bond issue you must be a property owner, or the husband or wife of a property own er .registered at the Board of Edu cation. A majority of votes will) decide the bond issue, but two-thirds j majority la needed to approve ||«j tax rate increase. You can register now . Ind., Jan. 26 Citizens here are upset over the brutality exhibited by an officer of the law in evicting a small group of men, patrons of the Lincoln tap room, from the premises, at which time Clifford Hooper, newspaper man, was beaten. It is alleged that Mr. Hooper, a former CCC sergeant, and several cf his former colleagues were occupying a corner of the tavern, owned by Melvin Schlensker. white, when the officer, white approached and asked them to leave. As the group began to break, it is stated that Hoooer, being farthest in the corner was slow in moving nut. The officer, it is said, growing impatient, seized the newsman by the coat lapels and hit him head, knocking him unconscious. The blaze gutted the two-story home during the early morning, trapping the entire family on the second floor. The fatner of the family. Charles O. Jeffries Sr, lived through the fire, but died later in the SL Phillip hospital of Rtch- Mr. Jeffries, a county farm agent, discovered the fire about 2:30 a. m. He tried to reach the second floor and rescue his wife and children, but it collapsed as be attempted to mount the stairs. Regaining consciousness after be ing struck by a beam, Mr. Jeffries, despite severe burns walked through the snow a quarter of a mile seek ing aid. He collapsed at a nearby home. The only member of the family to escape the flames was a son, Charles O. Jeffries Jr., who spent the night away from home visiting his grand mother.
