SATURDAY, JANUARY 4, 1941 Lodges In A Joint Banquet And Installation Event Hold Ceremony On Saint John’s Day session with Brother B Y. Jackson acting as matter of ceremonies as- i sisted by Sister Yvonne Washing- i ton. Principal speakers of the eve- j rung included Grand Master E. D. j Mack; address to lodges and chap ters by Atty. John B Morris, mem ber of King Solomon lodge and response by Grand Attorney Broth er Covington. Mrs. Kellogg, social worker and missionary of Inkster, Mich., spoke on “Organized Cooperation." Sev eral grand officers including Broth er S. H. Thomas were also on the program. Solos, readings, quartette numbers and other miscellaneous contributions were also heard. Group's First Public Installation This event was the group's first public installation. All officers of lodges and chapters were installed by Grand Master E. D. Mack, in a short, impressive ceremony fol lowed by the banquet. Brother W. E. Cross, past master of St. Mat thews lodge, was host to the groups. Sojourner Truth, State's Lone Chartered Chapter The Sojourn?r Truth chapter. O.E.S-, is reputedly the state's lone 1 ! grand chapter which has been duly ! -chartered by the Supreme Grand j chapter. 0.E.5., of the United States j and Canada, and is also incor porated with the Most Worshipful ! Mt. Sinai Grand Lodge, A F. and j A. M. of which E. D. Mack is. the grand master. Officers of the Sojourner chapter are Mrs. Cora Moore, Royal grand matron; Mrs. Sardonia Graham, as sistant royal grand matron: Mrs. Rosa Evans, royal grand secretary: Mrs. Delcie Cummings, royal grand treasurer; Mrs Vancell Covington, royal grand conductor; Mrs La vonia Mack, royal grand assistant conductor; Mrs. Estclla Robinson. M., and So journer Truth chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and its affiliated lodges and chapters participated last week in a colorful celebration of St. John's day at the Masonic Temple located at 632 .Livingstone street. In connection with the St John’s day observation a public Installation of officers and banquet were held. The Glee club of Sacred Heart church which was organized a month ago. made their first public appearance by rendering two selections on the program.
