Evelyn Solomon. . .affected a hair-do here that she has never achieved in her home territory . .swept exotically up from her face at the sides...and then all sorts of tendrils; and such... topped with a colorful nosegay to match her gown. All eyes were on the Walter Harmons. . as they came into the Municipal Auditorium A. on Friday night... which was the occasion of 'he joint formal. . .for fraters. . .sorors and friends. . .of AK A. A I’hi A. and Kappa Alpha Psi. .. Odalie was a vision in billowy white . .with the Harmons... w ere the Ted Whites. . .anil the Boynton Miltons... Edith was lovely in jade green.. .dotted with sparkles... and Pauline came in tor her share of attention in very decollete. . . black lace bodice and shimmering skirts. Roberta McGmre was the target for many jokes. . .being a very staunch Delta. . yet apparently very enthusiastic about the goins on. At the time we saw her. she was in ecstasies., .about a former Fiskite. . .that she had found here. .Joe Craigen’s eves were as big as saucers.. .when we ran up and smothered him with a big hug... wondering who would presume to take such liberty. Saw Richard King. . .somewhat sad., at the news, just received. . .that his mother. Mrs. Mamie King of Heidelberg street. . had just passed away.. .he was leaving then to take the fastest train home. Beulah Whitby, draped in silver fox...and swathed in royal blue maline.. .was with Etta Moten.. .who was sen sationally attired. . .in something unusually Spanish looking i...her tresses completely hidden in a bright scarlet turban „ . .draped foreign fashion. . .the effect was devastating. Nellie Watts. . .was with the most . attractive lady.. .youthful face and! snow white hair.. Miss Watts was regal in an exquisite beaded cre- Frances Raiford. was nothing short of blase correct from head to toe.. .and too. lovely in_that smart cadet evening coat ,;under which she wore a bizarre affair. Mary Agnes Miller Wentz Per kins.. .Jeanetta Welch .. Cecile Whittaker.. Heitha Priest. the Bill Matneys. . Garland Strickland ...were there, and Irene Graves ...although we never got to see her. Clara Welles a’.l but keeled over when we had her paged and Gloster Current was obviously surprised and delighted to see us. Mary Ann Clemon.. kept the young contingent of Kappas and Alphas...on the jump for her at tentions.. and we learn belatedly .. .that even our Ldflna. . .had a petite affair ..with young Robert, Defrantz. she was just carried away with him he being sixteen and just too glamorous to her. DISTINCTIVE OUTDOOR LIGHTING IN K. C. The above is achieved... on the ! front facades and in the windows ] of homes.. .Very picturesque.. and contributing mightily toward es tablishing the mood of the conclave ...are the lighted ivy leaves...and . other Greek emblems. The crowning event in this con nection... is the huge Kappa pin... which may be seen in the middle of a sort of public square , at the intersection of Eighteenth and the Paseo. D. C. and came home to spend the Christmas holidays witih Mr. Baker and frienus. Mrs Nash's home made a ovely setting for the gala affair, which ■was semi-formal. As one approach ed the home, the exterior Christ mas decorations were quite appeal ing.. .reaching out gaily beckoning fingers to welcome you...the door, was outlined with Christmas holly, a large star over the door, colorful I lights sparkling as fireflies in the black of night and Christmas trees colorfully lighted paraded across the front and side. We were ushered in by the maid into a beautifully appointed home, impeccable good taste in interior decorating and furnishings ... all blending together to make an en chanting vision of perfect harmony. The Christmas motif for decorations •house. Mrs. Nash has trulV suc ceeded in creating a truly livab'e and charming home bubbling over with her kind and generous per sonality. The party was hold in the Recreation room which features indirect iighting, radio fireplace, a cunning bar and game room. The class rooms were beautifully deco rated. using the usual Christmas color schemes. The student body should feel proud of the committee who drew the plans for this lovely party and carried them out so ef fectively. The committee head, Ge neva Walker, is deserving of men tionabie credit. The highlight of the party was the “Jitterbug" con test won by Miss Threadgill and ' Mr Anderson. There was card playing and the exchanging of gifts among the students. From the ex pression on their faces, there was no doubt as to the fun everyone : derived at this affair.
