H. R. Mc- Crary and Woodrow Ingram, today addressed a letter to the Detroit Housing Commission calling upon it to use "all the moral and practi cal pre.-sure” at its disposal "to re turn the Sojourner Truth Housing Project to the Negro families for whom it was originally built.” ■ The letter declared that the dis crimination practiced against the! This is a rotten policy not only in that it is undemocratic but it does not even make for harmony, cooperation, or efficiency. When Hitler comes over the horizon, the white and black boys are supposed to close ranks and cooperate like blood brothers. I think we better start to training the boys for that eventuality now. Lynching In Old Mizu or Missouri, they lynched another Negro last week and dragged his lifeless body through the streets of the Negro community to frighten the colored citizens. This beastly action does more to undermine the race's na tural love for democracy than any thing else possible. This business of burning people alive and cutting them to pieces for fun certainly sabotages the national effort at unity between the races and makes our screams about the brutality of Hitler and his gang sound ridicu lous. ANDERSON FUNERAL DIRECTOR COLUMBIA 4294 50S WILLIS AVENUI BILL ROBINSON GIVES $25 TO HOUSING FIGHT At a second mass meeting called by* the Citizens committee at North ern high school Sunday, over a thousand citizens turned out in pro test of the Federal Housing Au thori’y's action in refusing to permit Negroes to occupy the Sojourner Truth Housing Project after orders had come through to select race tenants to occupy the 200 units at Fenelon and Nevada avenues. Mrs Beulah Whitby, principal speaker told the audience that "we have just begun'to fight and our fight will not be relinquished until the Housing Authority has given this project back to the people for whom it was built.” Bill ‘Bojangles" Robinson Donates to Fight Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, who was invited to attend the mass meet ing, told the sponsoring committee that "I am with you in this fight and will personally write a letter to Ross T. Mclntyre to use his in fluence to see that justice is done.” Robinson then contributed $23 "to Resolutions condemning the facist attitude of the Housing Authority and local citizens, including Con gressman Tenerowicz, who were in strumental in causing the race to lose the project, were passed. A committee of four persons was selected to go to Washington to again present the case of the Negro people before the Federal Housing Authority. The committee includes the Rev Charles Hill, Senator Charles Diggs, Attorney Leßron Simmons and Mrs. Rosa Gragg. Another mass meeting will be held at Bethel A.M.E. church, The odore and St. Antoine, Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Frank Martel of the American Federation of Labor will be the speaker.
