DR. "BOB" REMEMBERED*
We were so surprised. . .and no less’curious. . .to find a
rerv promising looking parcel waiting for us today.... The
outside bore an Arizona post mark. . and the inside proved
to contain, some cute figurines made in Mexico...and
horror of horrors. . one was broken during the 2,700-mile
Journey here....But we have already found out that we
can have it fixed as good as new.. . .
t»arcel was from LIEL'T. ROBERT BENNETT, our
own "DR. BOB". . .who is now stationed at Fort Huachuca,
Ariz. and we were so thrilled.. . He likes it there. . .but
is lonesome for the old pals at home... .Some of you must
write him....He says he is eager for news of Detroit...
and we are going to see that he gets it....
AND ANOTHER WANTS US TO REMEMBER
Had a most newsy letter front CHARLES CLARK of
Toledo... who always called himself “CHOLLIE”.. .in the
good old days before Pearl Harbor... .Chollie is now in j
the army. . .and has been for the past 14 months.. . .He is ;
now stationed at Dow Field, Army Air Base. . .Bangor. Me. :
. . Has been at FT. HUACHUCA. . and posts at Mexico |
and California. . .also spent a time at Ft. Benning in Georgia
. and FT. ETIIAN ALLEN in Vermont.. . .He said all that
to say that he had that day. . .received a copy of THE
CHRONICLE. . his first glimpse in a whole year (we won': !
jet that happen again). . said he was that thrilled to read
after us again., and surprised and glad that we are still,
author of "Gaddings.". .
Chollie too wants friends to drop him a line . and brought
a lump to our throat. . .about this whole terrible war...
when he wrote of what he will do IF he turns. ..he had
written it just that way In particular he wants a letter!
from LILLIAN BROWN. . .JIMMY CHILDS...and JOE
BRANAM... please will you all write him... or any other
of our boys. . .who need their morale boosted
AND STILL ABOUT THE MEN IN THE SERVICE
BESSIE MORTONS brother. WENDELL TALBERT...
made quite a niche fr himself in musical circles... and
was the former husband of FLORENCE COLE TALBERT
...leaves New York City today (Monday).. .for FORT
HUACHUCA. . .where he will be henceforth known as
CAPTAIN TALBERT at least for the duration
