SATURDAY, DECEMBER if, 1948 The Party Line >y MARIAN Las Amiga* Bridge and Social Club gave one of the most colorful parties of the week. It was at club Zombie on Sunday evening and to entertain their hubbies on the club’s eighth anniversary. Gee. the girls went to a great expense to do the party up right, and we are grateful for being invited as their guest. Laurels to Marian Ames Green who w as their sponsor and should take a bow for doing a worthwhile job. They are on good solid footing now but ever grateful to Marian. They were all dressed smartly and corsages tied in autunui colors were worn. Tiny place cards and pretty baskets added to the party air. The Zombie show was good and the master of ceremonies gave a big round of applause to the girls. The officers arc Johnnie Mae Cun ningham. president; Ethel Johnson, vice president; Juanita Ashley, sec retary; Helen Morgan, assistant sec retary and Gertie Johnson, treas urer. Others included were Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Draw, Mr. and Mrs. Stone. Mr. and Mrs. Ed' Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin John son, Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt fore man, Mr. and Mrs. Theolius Staples, and Mr. Shelton Johnson. ’Twas a fried chicken dinner. * * * The C. B. Tnu was one of the many happen ings that made you swell with pride. But lets get to the begin ning . . . Mrs. Beatrice Fleming is their chairman, and she does a marvelous job. She heads a large project and fills the Job perfectly. The spacious Florence Ames Tem ple headquarters was u*ed for the banquet Each table was decorated for completeness and beauty to be judged for a prize. Winning first prize was Mrs. Thelma Parrish and Mrs. Enna Henderson who repre sented Lady Camile Temple with the most gorgeous table. Dinner wear of gold piped in green was the .service. Shiny silver, gleaming crystal and gorgeous flowers made their table the unanimous choice of the judges. Second winner was the taible of Mrs. Edgar Mcßryde that was very exquisite. It was centered w ith a low V >wl of baby mums and red ro>es, as two proud silver pea cocks were on either side. Perfect silver and fine goblets added to the beauty. Mrs. Pearl Collins of the Health department was the princi pal .speaker, pinch-hitting for Bish op Gregg (who has been sent to Africa). She did a marvelous job. There were other interesting speakers. Mrs. Hunter, chairman of salvage; Mrs. Cook, recruiting; Mrs. Stern, Mrs. Adams. Mrs. Basil J. Bryant. National officer of the Elks; Mrs. Carrie Curtia, Mrs. Charles Hill.
