This rally will make Detroit the focal point of political, social and cultural interests for the whole na tion, and will be an historic and dramatic symbol of the pledge of allegiance to the principles of de mocracy. The theme throughout the program will be racial unity, under standing of the problems of the Ne gro people. The speakers and performers are internationally known and through their participation this rally will be a gigantic demonstration of unity and progress. Radio, stage and screen stars, writers and singers, men and women who have fought every where for freedom in its truest sense, will gather here for this mo mentous occasion. The following people have offered us their cooperation: Miss Lena Horne, the beautiful and gifted songstress, has sent her special and personal endorsement to the Negro Freedom Rally Com mittee. In an interview during her stay in Detroit, she expressed her enthusiasm for this project. Misa Horne has long besen a sturdy champion of the rights of her peo ple, and by her many generous acts has contributed to the cause of free dom of all people. Only when Ne groes and all minorities are free, can all people be really free. The following letter has been re ceived by the Committee: ' I am glad to share this oppor tunity to congratulate the people of Detroit. Only in a world where all people are free to express them selves politically and socially can the best of culture and education flourish. “Your splendid effort toward* unity, in the form of this demon stration. is a real contribution in our fight for democracy. •’Sincerely.
