the J. L. Hudson's Co. Friday,

she explained the necessity and
importance of people who handle
food having examinations and
health cards. Mrs M. Wilson gave
a summary report on budgeting
and spending carefully. Mrs. Koy
lon.ski gave a report on diabetics,
and Mrs. M. Jason reported on
the functioning of the heart and
rheumatics.
Taking temperatures and pulse
count instructions were given. An
appeal is being made for addition
al members to join the class. Ma

57 Trowbridge on Monday on their
joint birthday.
For the occasion, Mrs Hawthorne
had laid the table on an exquisite
lace tablecloth brought to her from
Hot Springs. Ark , by her hus- !
band. Fall flowers comprised the
charming centerpiece. Other flow- |
ers were interspersed throughout
the home.
The menu of halved pepper
squash filled with creamed peas
and carrots, glazed roast chicken,
fruit salad, hot rolls and ice cream
and cake was prepared by the
hostess. The lovely birthday cake
was decorated with lighted candles
and gorgeous icing.
There was some question in the
guests’ minds as to whose age they
represented. Guests present were:

McGuire on Monday night. Miss
Priest left the city on Tuesday for
Boston, where the nuptials will
take place on Saturday October

husband with a birthday part£
last Saturday night at their beau
tiful home in Hudson avenue
A number of mutual friends
gathered to fete the honoree on the
occasion, and at midnight carried
him down the stairs and crowned
him king of his household as a
charade of the evening The gifts
were then opened, proving to con
tain a bit of all the things a man
needs in his wardrobe.
Mrs. Nelson was a cnarming
hostess, flitting about in a boom
ing frock of navy blue.
A turkey dinner with all the
delicious pre-season delicacies,
comprised the sumptuous menu.
Guests were Mr. and Mrs Hoi
man Williams, of Chicago. He is
the prize fighter. Mrs Mable
Hibbs, Mrs Willie Sluthers, Joa
Garrett of Baton Rouge, La., Owen
