SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1945 Silver Tea By Jr. USO Hostess Group Success The Junior hostesses of the John It USO gave a silver tea Sunday •t the Lucy Thurman YWCA for the benefit of the servicemen. Avery informal program was rendered, with Dr. W. L. Postles ma master of ceremonies. Mrs. Lu cille Lowndes, junior advisor, in troduced Dr. Postles as our master ©f ceremonies for the evening. • • • THE TE4 WAS opened with the •inging of “Lift Every Voice" by the group. Miss Mary Louise Davis (“Miss Detroit of 1945”) whistled 'My Buddy” and “As Time Goes By.” She was accompanied at the piano by Miss Hazel Edwards. Miss Rachael Ulmer, first presi dent of the Junior USO Hostesses, gave the history of the junior hostesses. Miss Yvonne Hill, for three years recording secretary of the junior hostesses, gave a read ing from Paul Laurence Dunbar. From the audience navy man M 2-c Aaron Bell played ‘‘Ma lavuema." Miss Louise Johnson, entertainment chairman, spoke on •'The Junior Hostess and Her Con tribution to World War II." A solo by Cpl. Nelson, formerly a mem ber of the Robert Nolan choir, •inging "The Lords Prayer,” con cluded the program. Guest speaker for the evening was Mrs. Ahnastasia Scott Dudley, recently returned from England, where she served as an American Red Cross worker. Her topic was •'Christmas in England." She con cluded her talk with pictures and souvenirs she had obtained there to show to the group. • . • CLOSING REMARKS were made by Miss Edith L. Davis, who has been president of the junior hostesses for the past three years. She expressed .appre ciation to all who participated in making this tea such a grand suc cess. She also introduced the offi cers and volunteers of the USO who were present. The audience was served tea bv two senior hostesses, Mrs. May belle Eaton and Mrs. Annie War ren. Gibson To Address KAP Annual Conclave COLUMBUS Truman Gibson Jr., who recently resigned his post as civilian aide to the Secretary of War, will be the main speaker for the public meeting of the thirty fifth annual convention of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity which will convene in Columbus.
