$$SHE 1 DID NOT TORN Jlichigan Man. in Chicago Fays $2 .**- Freely to See the Masonic ' , y "Temple Turn Around.- The Man Who Took the Money to Turn It Was Dishonest and " .' Never Came Back.- Kw York Sun Special Service. Chicago, Dec. 31.He is from near Saginaw, Mich., and his name is Henry Green. At noon yesterday he stood in front of the Masonic Temple, looking up at the twenty-story building. "By jlmmlny fishhooks, she's a whop per, ain't she?" he said to a young man with a black mustache, who came up and stood beside him. "There ain't nothin' like that over in Saginaw or Detroit, cither. How many feet might it be up there to "#io top? Reckon its about 500, eh?" "Five hundred and three and one-half feet to an inch," said the young man with the black mustache. "Somebody must have told you or you couldn 't have guessed ,' so well." . * "No, sir," said the man from Michigan. "*'I never heard how high she was. I came to Chicago to see. the sights, and Pete I-Janks, who lives on the next farm to me, said I must take a look at the Masonic Temple, or my trip to the city wouldn't be of no account." - . "If you'll wait here for an hour," said the young man, who introduced himself to Mr. Green as "Mr. Powers," an em ploye of the Temple, "I will have the engineer turn It around. W e move the building clear around every two hours for ( the benefit of sight-seers from the coun- '. try." \. The man from Michigan said he couldn't ^wait that long, although he would like to see the building turned around so that he could go back home and tell Pete Hanks about it. Pete, he said, hadn't told him anything about that. The stranger asked Mr. Green if he was willing to pay $2 to have the building turned right then, and Mr. Green said he was. He gave "Mr. Power" a $10 bill, and the latter said he -would, have to see the engineer to start the Temple re volving. Mr. Green waited half an hour, and as the building did not turn around and "Mr. Power" did not return with the $8 change he decided that he had met "one of them Chicago sharpers." H e reported the matter to Sergeant Morgan at the central station The Difference Between Daylight and Darkness. Is no more apparent than is the super iority of the Northern Pacific railway's train service over other lines. If you are going to spend, the winter in California give yourself the opportunity of seeing Washington and Oregon. These states are attracting a great deal of at tention just now and you can see thj Without extra exp^nre.
