Mitchell of Cleveland was the guest of honor and the women w.ho had been invited to meet her were Mmes. J. S. Montgomery, J. W. Little, P. Mintener, W. L. *Waldron, A. B. Mc Clintock, H. R. Yerxa, John Leslie, Samuel S. Thorp, Arthyfr Dean, Ed Krafft, H. G. Day, Dawson Bradshaw, Louis Ireland and Miss Ethel Stong. Mrs. Mintener and Mrs Mitchell re ceived in the parlor, where American Beauty roses made an attractive set ting. Mrs. Dawson Bradshaw and Miss Ethel Stong assisted the dining room. The table in the dining room was prettily arranged with white tulle, which was stretched in star shape from the centerpiece of red tulips towards the corners where it was caught in large bows. Tapers of red in quaint brass candelabra lighted the table. Mr. and Mrs. Dawson bradshaw were hosts at a dinner at their home on Irv ing avenue S last week for Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell. Covers were laid for nine and the table decorations were red tulips and red carnations. 't Mrs. George A. Hughes entertained this afternoon at her home, 1608 Ste vens avenue, for her sister, Miss Vil lette Stanley, of the "Little Johnny Jones" company, and for Miss Grace Hayward. Early the afternoon cards were played and the prizes at euchre were a handsome Gibson picture pillow, "At the Matinee," and James Whit comb Riley's "Love Lyrics." Later a musical was given interspersed with a charminf reading by Miss Hayward. Mrs. T. A. WMtworth gave a Chopin piano selection Miss Marie Hughes played "Rustle of Spring" by Sinding Misses Marion and Rose Bearnstein gave a piano and violin selection, and Mrs. Hughes sang Mattel's "Non E Ver." The decorations were in red,Llllie and'festoons of red hearts were ar ranged over the tables. Clusters of poinsettias and carnations continued the color scheme of red. Heart shaped score cards and Valentine favors car ried out the distinctive Valentine ap pointments. A light luncheon was served from small tables and in onehomenumber of the rooms a group of the younger flissesalternated irls at the frappe bowl, Marie Hughes, Marian Bearn stein, Rose Bearnstein, Mildred Wright, and Ray Stevens presided in the dining room. Assisting Mrs. Hughes in re ceiving the fifty guests were Mrs. L. A. Laramee, Miss Mayme Sicher and Miss Blanchard. The hours were from 2 to 6 o'clock. Mrs. Sampson A. Reed gave a lunch eon this afternon at her home on Fif teenth street N, entertaining the mem bers of the Hawthorn' club and of the Fleur-de-lis club. Covers were laid for thirty'-six. and after the "luncheon card* were played. The decorations in thewent dining room were violets and carnations and Valentine day was suggested in many conceivable ways. The name cards were red hearts and the candies and ices were heart-shaped. In the liv ing room and in the parlors red flowers carried out the Valentine colors, and the score cards at the games were pret ty affairs suggesting cupid. Mrs. Reed was assisted by Mrs. C. A. Eells, Miss Abbie Reed and Mrs. Ralph Perry. Mr. and Mrs. Parker Harding and Mr. and Mrs. Nathan H. Chase gave a charmingly appointed yalentine party last evening in Mrs. Noble's ball on Hennepin avenue. The walls were hung with southern smilax and hundreds of red hearts were draped from the side lights to the corners of the room. Red carnations quaint wall pockets alter nated with the sidelights and a great cluster of the spicy blossoms topped the newel post. The orchestra was screened with palms and palms were also banked the corners. An informal program of tweirty numbers was played. Mrs. H. S. Noble assisted Mr. and Mrs. Harding and Mr. and Mrs. Chase. Sup per was served in the greenroom from small tables decked with red tapers and carnations. There were 125 guests. The Theta chapter of Delta Delta Delta will give an informal dancing party this evening at the home of Miss Frieda Stam, 105 Smith avenue, St. Paul. Miss Pearl Redfield has sent out in vitations for a Valentine party, to be given Friday evening at her home in the Laurel. The invitations were novel affairs, red hearts pierced with arrows. The marriage of Miss Marie De Mars, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. De Mars, and William Henry Green was solemnized last evening at the family home, 614 Eighth street S. I twas ji charmingly appointed affair and was at tended by seventy-five guests. In the parlors, where the service was read at 8 o'clock by Eev. Father Donahue of the Church of the Immaculate Concep tion, a color scheme of pink and green was carried out. Palms and ferns made a background for the bridal party, while pink carnations were gracefully ar ranged in hanging baskets and wall pockets. Mrs. Eugene Lundberg played the Mendelssohn wedding march. The bride wore a pretty gown of white silk mull over white silk, with trimmings of Mechlin lace and deep tucks. Her ornament was a wreath of orange blossoms arranged in^her hair, and the bouquet was of white carna tions. There were no attendants. After the ceremony a reception was held and a supper was served in the dining room from tables decorated with red tulips and ferns. Mr. and Mrs. Green left on an eastern tour and they will be at home at 612 Eighth street S after March 1. The bride wore an Eton suit of Alice blue broadcloth, with hat to match, aa a traveling gown. Mrs. Calvin Holbrook gave the bridal dinner last evening at her heme, 3149 Columbus avenue, in 'honor of Miss Helen Xiouise Grahn and Lindley Wil liams Holbrook. The guests were the members of the bridal party and the decorations were attractively carried out with red and white carnations. The name cards were heart shaped and the flowers were carnations. Miss Grahn's place at the table was designated by a large bouquet of red carnations. Miss Ruth Morlan, 1921 Irving ave nue S, entertained at a Valentine party "for twenty of her young friends last evening. The rooms were decorated in red and green and in the parlor and reception hall were masses of tulips, roses and carnations. Games and music furnished entertainment during the eve ning, and at 11 o'clock supper was served. The guests were seated: at small tables and the table in the dining room from which the supper was served, held a heart-shaped centerpiece of red roses set in a mound of smilax. Radiating from it were red streamers, at the end of which were the Valentine favors in dainty heart-shaped holders. The ices and confection were in the form of pink hearts. Miss Mabel Kairnes and Miss Ruth Ridges, Paul Jenne, Carl Giles and Brryman Ridges won the prizes at the Valentine games which were played. oT!
