The contract has lieen let by the I'nited States kov eminent for a new pier, which will he built on the site of the old wharf at Quantico on the Potomac River. The pier will he about tiOO feet longer than the present wharf, and about twenty feet wider. This will greatly facilitate the handling of pas sengers and freight A concrete sea wall is now under construction at Quantico, which, when completed, will be about a mile long, twenty feet high, and about five feet wide at the top.
