Impetus Given "Own Your Own Home" Movement?Money Market Re nins to loosen L'i?. Business in real estate circlcs last week began to boom again and there was every Indication that the tight money market of which the agents l\ave been complaining has begun to loosen up. As evidence o? this fact real estate men point to the first four days of the week, when 4H real estate transfers were recorded in the Chancery Court, one of the largest records of the year for less than a week. Big deals were not in evidence, how ever. but reports are to the effect that small properties were exceedingly active. Many sales of between I t.oOO and J".000 were recorded in the Chan cery Court, but few larger ones. Agents point out that everything is favorable for a big year in realty circles. Homes are moving faster than anything else, and agents be lieve the "own-your-own-home" move ment is taking TtPil. Many deals re corded last week were probably made in the summer and just closed be cause of the inability of the owner to get possession nefore the present time, and also because of pecuniary troubles caused by the credit situa t Ion. Sale of Monument Avenue Property. fc'ale of a residence at .'121.1 Monu ment Avenue, recently built by Davis Brothers, was recorded in the Chan cery Court yesterday. Consideration was not given, but tax was paid on J 17.600. I?. Thornton Davis and E. Leslie Davis were the former owners and-transferred the property to Wal ter It. Taylor. Bollard and Bagby made the deal. It. P. Bitchie, Jr., of the llrm, rtated that business was a great deal brisker than usual, but that deals were mostly small. The lirtn closed one sale last week, how ever. In which the consideration was J 07.000. The I. O. O. 7\ Building corpora tion was the purchaser. E. K. Schmidt, of E. K. Schmidt & Co., also declared that business was improving, hu* that nothing of any consoqucncc has jet cotn>: up. Building activity is also an indica tion that business is picking up. This is a remarKably good bank statement, compared with what the Su-eet expccted. The net. demand deposits usually Increase with an Increase of loans, when there is much speculation, because the brokers im mediately deposit the money they borrow, nut there is a heavy reduc tion of loans this week with an in- I crease of net demand deposits. This is due to the fact that a larue pro-! portion of the deposits are for the! account of persons who are prepar ing to pay their income taxes with checks. As the checks will not be I certified, and as the government will ! re-deposit them at once, the pay- i inent of taxes should not make a ripple :n the money market.
