PLANS OF ISTHMIAN
CflL COMMISSION I
Headquarters Will Bo at Panama, tH
With. Branch Office in Wash-
WASHINGTON, March 23. Two lm- jH
porta nt points have been decided In
connection with tho work of the Isth- 'll
mlan canal commission.
One is that the headquarters of the
commission probably will be on tho jH
Isthmus of Panama instead of at
Washington, although an ofJlco will
probably be maintained here.
The other point Is that a part of tho H
time of at least five of the commls- Y
sioners will be devoted to their private
Admiral Walker, the chairman of tho
commission, and Gen, Davis, the army iHi
member of the body, will devoto their
entire time to the canal work.
Legislation now pending before Con-
gress provides for the appointment of
a Governor of the American zone on the 1 jm
Panama canal. It should be enacted kjH
into law, and it is quite probable that I vJB
the President may designate Gen. Davis
as the Governor of the canal strip. . - -A s
