GETTING READY FOR GAME.
An Enthusiastic Football Meeting
Will Bo Held Today To Enter
tain Boulder.
Coach Maddock Is now whipping his
band of huskies Into shape and putting
on tho hard ntrokea that are expected
to bring results in next Saturday's game
with Boulder. Two sets of bucks have
been selected, and during the long prac
tice held yesterday afternoon their ca
pacity for work was fully tosted. Half
a sub lino has alto beon picked out,
and every practice will find them hard
at work.
Assisted Maddock.
Last night's practice was a telling
ono. To assist Coach Maddock in his
work thero was present Coach Callahan
of high school fame and Dick Ogelsby,
formerly end on the Row Polytochnlc
first eleven. Maddock Initiated the
tackles Into the mysteries of the Yost
system, Callahan coached the backs
and Ogelaby gave the ends some
pointers. By thla method the boys were
initiated into all the finer points of the
game and supplied with a solution for
every difficulty that can possibly con
front them.
Tonight'a practice will consist of a
friendly scrimmage with the High
School eleven. By this method all the
wenk wpots in the team will be exposed,
and at the conclusion of the practice
Couch Maddock, assisted by Messrs.
Callahan, Channlng and Plummer, will
proceed to patch up all the holes made.
Students Are Interested.
Two hundred students walked up and
down the side lines last night and
watched tho work of the team during
its three hours practice. The campus
Is dally crowded by spectators, whose
presence serves to spur on the rivals in
iheir fights for positions on the team.
Victory or defeat will bring double Joy
or sorrow to Coach Maddock. The fact
that Coach Ellsworth of the Boulder
team was captain of last year's Chicago
team, and likewise Mnddock's opponent
nt tackle in the great Chicago-Michigan
game makes the present contest savor
of the old fight In this contest Mad
dock completely bested Ellsworth, and
consequently ho does not relish the
thought of a defeat in Saturday's con
test Stagg, the famous Chicago coach,
who has beon spending the past summer
In Colorado for his health, has passed
many spare hours drilling the Boulder
aggregation Into shape.
Football Meeting Tomorrow.
Tomorrow an enthusiastic football
meeting will be held, at which time
Coach Maddock and several of the foot
ball leaders will make short speeches.
Prof. Fred Reynolds, who has Just re
turned from Harvard, will deliver an
address on "Student Life at Harvard,"
laying particular stress on the athletic
side. On next Friday afternoon another
enthusiastic meeting will be held, and
every student In tho school will be ex
pected to turn cut to the game.
Preparations for entertaining the
Boulder team are already being"made,
and tho Coloradar.s will certainly be
shown a royal time during their stay
here.
