Românul American

Românul American (the Romanian American) was a weekly newspaper published in Detroit from 1939 to 1950 and then again from 1955 to 1963 with a circulation of about 2,500 copies per week. It was published by the Romanian-American Publishing Association. Managing Editor Harry Fainaru, in testimony given in 1949 before the United States Senate's Judiciary Committee, stated that it was a matter of public record that he was a member of the Communist Party. According to a confidential FBI report filed in January 1964 and publicly released in 1997, the newspaper editorial policy consistently followed the direction of the Communist Party.
