March 31
The extra declaration was but 1 2 of

This will be, a keen disappointment to

This action probabls accounts for a
bear movement in the stock on the local

Pojo neport
U B Ilibbs & Co sent out the fol
lowing letter to their correspondents last
evening ,
arIous comments are heard In Con
press on the Pujo (or to be more accu
rate the Untermver) report. Indicating
a wide range of discussion when the
proposed legislation comes up for con
sideration It ever It does.
One class In Congress takes the find
ings with full faith and Is read) to al
most believe In a regular personal monej
devil with horns and hoofs Some there
are who probabls regard an interlocking
directorate as some sort of new fangled
railroad switch Others do not hesitate
to call the whole thing bunk as did a
Pennsylvania Representative in open de
bate the other da
Then there are thoughtul men in all
classes who realize there may be ten
dei cles to dangerous concentration of
credit that there ma) be abuses In
speculation but thev are pondering se
riousl) how such things are to be rem
edied bs t-ederal legislation and fortu
natelv it is this class of men that in the
end will handle the bills in committee.
Far more important to the business
world than the findings of the Pujo com
mittee Is the situation In both Houses
over the struggle between the radicals
and the conservatives for control of the
Democratic organization. It Is not to be
denied that the Senate leadership will
Iikel) be dominated b the Brian wing
of the Democracy and It Is quite within
the range of possibilities If President
vv IIon takes sides tbit the same element
will have the upper hand in the House
The whole trend of legislation for the
extra s ssiou n a) be dlreated b the
outcome
