June 30.?Mail "from Uncle Sam. to Uncle Sam," was delivered on the high seas today. At 7:30 this morning the transport Great Northern appeared heading straight for our ship. Within a short [ time the two vessels came close to gether; then suddenly, one of the escorting destroyers darted alongside i the Great Northern and took off a huge | mail bag coming from the White House and addressed to President Wilson. ! In the pouch were a number of bills passed by Congress and requiring the President's signature in order to make ! them effective on the opening of the new fiscal year, which is tomorrow. The President immediately signed j the bills and *he White House was notified. There were also some com munications for members of Mr. Wil son's party. Among the bills signed by the PreV ident on the high seas?a precedent in American history?were the railroad and Indian appropriation bills. THE TOWN CRIER. Volunteer workers are wasted at War Camp Community Service Club No. 7, Third and C streets.
