PROSPECTUS OP THE COURIER, THE UNDERSIGNED WILL COMMENCE, OS or about the Kth day of January next, tbe poblicj. tion of a Daily and Weekly Paper bea'ting the above till, in tbe town of Fayetteville, N. C. . The Courier will be Democratic in tone and sentiment and will seek at all times, and upon all occasions, to nurd' vigilantly the interests of the South. It is a difficult task at any time to understand clearlr the drift of events, especially when a great crisis is appmacb ing. For some time past we have been familiarizinoiir. selves with tbe idea that at a day not far distant we" shall have to battle for onr interests. Recent events haresWn that our opinions were correct, and tbat we were compelled to defend oursel ves from the invader. It cannot be denied although it is relished by no' one in this section, that the ' breach between the North and the South is daily becoming wider. Our duty then, as men true to our interests, is ti gird up ourselves for the contest, and be piepared for all eventualities. Tbat it is tbe duty of every one to do what ever lies in bis power to avert this awful disaster, is cheer fully recognized bv all classes. In conducting the Courier, whatever energy or talent I may possess, will be directed towards the perjietoify of the Union and equality of tbe States, and in maintaining thine political principles which have been tested and pmren to be tbe only mode by which the affairs of our countrr cm be properly managed. . Although the particular tenets of the Democratic parlj will be argued, I will concede to political opponents tbe prerogative which I claim for myself, and will endetorlo do my duty without giving offence lo any one. The Courier, although a political paper, will at be far misled by politics as to neglect those thins which should claim the attention of a public j urnal 1 will en deavor to give tbe latest Telegraphic and other new, nur ket reports, Ac, and to keep my readers advised f ereij Ihing of interest which transpires from time to time The Daily paper will be printed eviry morning, (Sundajs excepted) on new and handsome .type, and will contain twenty-four columns of reading matter. Price per annum 1 in advance. ; The Weekly. Paper will be issued every Saturday morn ing at $2 per annum in advance. Advertisements will be inserted upon .reasonable terms. " - - ARCH'D. T. BANES. December 20, 1859. . loS- : . ' PROSPECTUS ""OP- THE STA33. GP P33.EED0at BELIEVING THE PERIOD HAS ARRIVED IS the history of our great nation, when every freeman sbonld shake-off the fetters and tenets of sectarian bias and in-the face of policy and popular opinion think, speak, act, and declaim without fear or reward, his- principles up on any and every subject not inimical to tbe interests of the country. -' And believing furthermore, that the en croachments of iniquity, hyp. crisy, heresy, infidelity, su perstition, hnmbnggery, priestcraft, with all their isms and unpatriotic devotion to toe fundamental principles of our government, are fearfully on the increase, therefore, stron; efforts should be put forth by tbe conservative portion of our country to uproot tbem, and return to the primitive landmarks of onr fathers. We should have an honest Dem ocratic Government and honest devotion to the church of ' God that sectarian jealousies may be ignored, socialitj restored, and the interest of one section be made the in terests of all so that, prosperity may spring op in tbe midst of adversity. To this end, tbe niidersigned proposes to publish in tbe town of Wilson. N.
