The mem brane of the brain was very mutfh congested" the brain itself was healthy; In the spinaj col umn there was a large quanti y of blood; the heart was heulthy, the lungs* were healthy the stomach and contents, the ir.te tines aed Iner wore healthy, and are preserved for ex amination; all his organs were healthy and n itural; I never saw a case that was more s?> be seems to have taken very little food, for .he inte?t>nji canal was very much contracted; all L can say aa to tno cause of his death, I have aever seen or made examination of a easo of icath from strychnine; but from my knowledge if the looks and the symptoms of this ca->e, is given, if I were to have examined this case in: bout having heard of it before, I should say b? death was from strychnine or some such ;ause. In the absence of strychbino beinij ouod in the stomach, I should be unabk to iccount for the phenonema exhibited in .-u;h ases. I would not be willing to swear whether t was from strychnine or mental agitation, bou^h I believe it was from strychnine ? \nother corrobb'.rative circumstance is the emarkable rigidity ef the patient an 1 the ensitiveness to light and cold ; the throwing ?f himself back, us testified by a witness, is a troag symptom; if he had died from excesive ?gtation, the brain itself would be congested, crychnino effects the membranes of the brain n cases of et.ychnine the patient between onvulsions is most generally sensible, and al ?ost conscious of the convulsions and would brow himself backwards; if I had seen the irst symptoms or had performed the autopsy nth a knowledge of the symptoms. The ?pinal cord was largely congc^ed, and about a quart of dark vicid blood escaped from the spinal cavity and base of cranum. The lartre intestine was contracted. The other organs were found to be in a normal condition. From the previous symptoms and the post-mortem appearance of the body after death, there is a great presumption that death was caused from ftnchcine. The deceased was in Church on last Thurs day evening in company with a young lady to whom he was engaged to be married .and ap peared in high health and spirits. The body, immediately after the invertira tion was given to his friends, and was re moved (a handsome coffin having been brought for that purpose,) in a hearse drawn by two horses. Shooting. ? Yesterday, a boy named J. Lewis, aged about fifteen years, was arrested by officers Allen and Keese for shooting a man named Thos. Hnrley. From the testimony before Captain Goddard, it appeared that the boy did the act for no other purpose than to make mischief He shot Hurley with a pistol a number of shot taking effect in his face. The wound is not dangerous though painful. Lewu was sent to jail. IirmrTgD ? The schcKHier George Steers, on her re turn. would bring the minister from Cen tral America to this country. An American merchant writes that some American vessels of war were ex ? pected there to acqurre information rela tive to the American boundary, and the real facts relative to disputes between Honduras and Great Britian. Honduras ha>l. wilhuut notice, advanced the tonnage one hundred per cent., and the American consul had entered a protest in the case of the brig Helen Jane, which was obliged to pay. although she had dropped anchor before the decree was promulgated. A state of war still continued between Guatemala and Honduras, but there was no fighting. AtTruxillo there were continued shocks of earthquakes, though there was no se rious damage done.
