The New York Pxpress giwes the following deectiptiou of the equipment# of a French soldier lately received iu that city : There is now uo exhibition at Tiffany's a whole set of equipments used by the French seldier when in active service. The set whs brought here by the last steamer, and will pr?babtj attract considerable attention from those who take an interest in the welfare of our troops. It ia.a lirge and rather cluinrj looking piece of workmanship, but on examination turns out to be handy and convenient. Hooked on to the saddle are the rarnleti, or seats, in which the slightly wounded soldier is plaoed, and oonveyed to the hospital. Then there are the litters, or ambulances, made of the shape and size of a bed. These are also hooked on to tbe saddlo, and used when a soldier is dangerously wounded Th??y Ioan be covered, should it bo deemed necesatry. to keep the suu or air from the suffering pauoiu. Although the whole arrangement looks clumev, yet a minute examination will prove it# j?nat value in case of a severe action. I pon examining the clothing, its superior quality is at onoo observable. The shoes nre stout, pegged with heavy nails, and yet weigh loss than the shoes served out to oar own soldiers. The leggings, pantaloons and coats are all of g?od material and excellently made. Their cost is much less, probably, than ours. The knapsack of the Froncli soldier is made of leather with the hair on. and is nmhuhtv the most complete thing of tho kind ever seen in this part of the world. It contains the following articles :?One overcoat, one coat, one pair pants, (woollen,) one pair pants, (linen.) one pair drawers, one isbirt, uu? crnvat, one pair shoes, one pair leather leggings, one waist belt, one cartridge box, one c*p. one plume, one pompon, one haversack, one bowl, four brushes, one oade with thread, needles, Ac , one bag to hold coat when folded up, one canteen, one pair leather gaiters, one pair linen gaiters.
