The affair took place in a large ward, which has bi'en fitted up villi a. stage and scenery, and otherwise orna mented, w hich is used during the day as a read ing-room by the patients and for the entertain ments. The scenery was painted by one of the cor.yalescents?C. W. Bolza, Oth Michigan. The i nUrtainment was opened by a grand procession of the company. An excellent in strumental troupe ot six persons, with black faces, next appeared, and with music, songs nnd witty sayings, lor a time entertained the audience, and drew forth much applause. The jsong, "Katy Deau," was sung with flue effect l>y C. E. Peabody, 12'h Mass., and was fol lowed by a jig dance bv A. J. Kilburn, 146th "N Y The rt doubtable " bones," C. H. Seely, 20th N. At the entertainment last night, the effect was not only -with those able to be present, but those confined to their beds seemed to be well pleased that their comrades were enjoying themselves. Dr. J. H. Baxter, m charge, and his assistants, I)rs. Kelly, Hinklc, Leman, Kemp, True, and Sid ney, are assiduous in their attentions to the patients and deserve much credit for the fine order observed, and the excellent condition of i the hospital. The resolutions assert that the colored people are loyal, and have no sympathy with those who are laboring either "directly or indirectly for the overthrow of a Government whose in dependence was purchased in part by the blood of our forefather* and sustained by thatot their sons." While gratelul to the President and his associates for their liberty, they nevertheless attribute their d isen thrall me nt to the over ruling Providence of God. They declare that the ltith of April, 1S62, and the 1st of January, 1463, are days entitled to the veneration and Commemoration of the colored race. While desirous that the war should terminate, they will patiently aid prayerfully await the result. They are gratified that the Administration has determined to use the negroes as soldiers, and conclude by pledging themselves to use their effort* to iuduce the colored race to adopt such a course as will commend them to the favorable consideration of the humane and intelligent everywhere. "Wolowski's pupils: To the Editor of the Daily and Sunday Morning f'hrtmicle Sir : Being ctesirous ?f learning on the tuauo by the new method of Prof. Wolow t ki, I commenced, not having the slightest idea of music, and I am now on the second half of my course of instruction, and I must say that in that short time rny progress has been wonderful. His method, as well as his way of explaining, is so remarkable that it enables the pupil in a very short time to understand the theory of music thoroughly, and what is more, enables the pupil to read music with the great est tat ility ; and aa 1 have derived great benefit from Prof. Wolowski's instruction, I would advise all those who would wish to become line musicians not to lose this oppportunity, as he if about to commence his last course.
