arrested npon the chirpe of selling liquor,
found guilty, sentenced to p'?v a fine of ?100,
and ordered to close his s'ore within thr^e
days. Frank Hanks, a member of the Is'. D
voinnteers. charged with beine ab*?nt from
his post without authority, and playing detec
tive, was sentenced to the slave per. for three
Gov. Pierpont returned to this city to-dav,
after an absence ot over one mon'h, during the
greater part of which time he has been active
ly engaged in stumping New York and New
Jersey in behalf of Mr. Lincoln and th? Union
tickets of those States. Tie is welcomed home
hy the hearty congratulations of his friends.
All the citizens who have recently b?en em
ployed as train guards have been released, and
heavy derails from the eu?rrllla prisoners in
our hands will in future be used for the same
precautionary purpose.
Mi?SIK?.?About 10 o'clock a m.. Monday, a
yonng man weut to Mr. Wm Hayes' boarding, i
house. No. 8 4X street, and took board Yesrer- |
day about noon he was missed. Mr. M A.
Watson also missed an English sack coat, of
hlack broadcloth, and a double-breasted vest
ot the same goods, and a pair of kid gloves.
Mr. H. O. Studley also missed a dress coat and
8 pair of gloves. It looks very suspicion's that
this voung man, who gave his nam? a< Donz
lnss. s lionld be missed at the same time that the
clothing was missed.

Nov. 24th tor the benefit of a drafted man of
the Seventh Ward. It wi'.l be seen that the
ball Is to be given under the direction of an
excellent committee of management, and as the
